Who has been to Phuket?

Post by cadams84 »

I had previously planned on traveling to Thailand a few years ago but due to some family problems I could not. Now everything seems to be back on track so I am looking forward to leaving in a few months. I decided to go to Phuket instead of Pattaya.

I will be going to a Thai Boxing Camp called Tiger Muay Thai.

I am about to pay for the first month of my trip via paypal through their web site and after I am there for a while I will see if I have any better options for accommodation and meals.

Can I get an opinion on their accommodation prices?

http://www.tigermuaythai.com/muay-thai- ... ation.html

They seem to range from 4,000 Baht to 24,000 Baht. My price range is somewhere in the 10,000 Baht per month area. I do not need anything fancy technically I am just going to train at their gym they do not allow guests in their rooms anyways so any ladies are out of the question. (Not that I won’t find a hotel near the beach before I leave for some R&R.)

They also have a meal plan 60 meals for 9,000 Baht.

It will allow me to prepay for a month of accommodation, meals, and training online for about $900 USD. Do these prices seem to be fair? The cost of the training is about the same on each site I visit but the price for food and rooms vary quiet a bit. I was considering Chiang Mai for a while because of Phukets reputation but I could not find a boxing camp online that I found as modern and accommodating to westerners in Chiang Mai.

Thanks a ton for that link I have had trouble finding posts from people doing the same thing I have in mind. Judging from what they say in that thread I probably should not risk it with the ladies there. That is also why I decided against Pattaya. I will wait a while before buying and see if I can find anything else in northern Thailand. If I end up going to Phuket I am thinking I will spend some time at the gym and then move on to the Philippines to try my hand at meeting some ladies.

Also one mention Tiger is full of overweight tourists... I should fit right in.

Cadams,
While Phuket is nice, has amazing beaches nearby, it's expensive and very touristy. I'd strongly suggest you to go to Chiang Mai instead. As a matter of fact, I'm also going there in the spring, in CM. Check this camp: http://teamquestthailand.com/ looks good and that's where I plan on going. When are you planning on going to LOS? Is that your first time in LOS?

This will be my first time in Thailand and I plan on arriving sometime in April. How long I stay depends on my experience but I imagine it will be a minimum of one month. The prices for Team Quest seem to be slightly cheaper than the prices of Tiger Muay Thai 16,000 Baht for training & accommodation. I must read more about Chiang Mai.
