Having said that, an average Korean, Chinese and Japanese cannot distinguish an Eastern Slav from an Anglo Saxon/Germanic.

The Ottoman empire worked as the Mediterranean's cultural lighthouse in a time when Europe was stuck in extreme fragmentation and endless pro-Pope vs pro-Emperor petty fights. Ancient Romans sowed the seed of their own decline far before the barbarians came along to crack the fragile shell and wreak havoc. Even the Nazis and the Fascists were responsible for a number of great acts of social and economy policy, some of which are still standing today.

You're also right to say people shouldn't take history too seriously, as having a very strong stance almost always denotes a personal bias. Unfortunately, it is true that history is writtem by its winners...at any given point in time.

Yakuza, you need to write a book. Or a least a manifesto. For posterity's sake if nothing else. I never had much of a connection to Asian culture, but reading your posts I find myself in firm agreement. Sure, you come across as a little angry in your posts. Rightly so. Anger doesn't make a good case in intellectual discourse. I am hugely influenced by the book The Fatal Conceit: The Errors of Socialism. This book makes it a point that is not about the "evils" of socialism as a moral argument, but just pure logic. This is how the most convincing arguments are made. Despite the anger, which I think is quite tempered from what it could be, I do find a great deal of truth in your posts. Now I feel I have a duty to investigate my heritage and reasons to be more proud of it.

OutWest, Yakuza is being constructive by speaking out. I never really had a connection to my Asian race because I never had anyone as a mentor and all I ever saw was evil Communism in China. Now I feel like a lit fuse and am going to make it a point to study my true heritage.

And you're the one who bought up the negativity with the 'Asian men beat up their women' and 'Asian women don't want to deal with patriarchal Asian men' in your post. And to you point, I'll be headed to Asia soon next year. That doesn't mean I won't try to help out my fellow Asian Americans and address their grievances--just like Winston has done in creating this forum and helping out many Asian Americans in their suffering.
