Chinese Rich Kids Post Photos Of Their Bank Accounts Online After 'Sex Party' Feud

China's new money rich kids are getting more and more outrageous — and creating more and more of a backlash online.
The latest scandal started earlier this month after reports of a "sexy party" at the Hainan Rendez-Vous Lifestyle and Yacht Show in the coastal resort of Sansa.
Shanghai Daily reported on the sordid details of the party, including allegations that one model earned 600,000 yuan ($97,000) from the sex parties, and that more than 2,000 condoms were used over 3 days. Local government officials are now investigating the reports.
The scandal escalated as members of a luxury group called the Sports Car Club (SCC) accused notorious a 20-year-old socialite, Guo Meimei, of offering sex for money at the party. Guo had previously set off a controversy for flaunting her luxurious lifestyle online while claiming (falsely) to work for the Red Cross.
Guo responded with a photo of 5 million yuan ($800,000) in casino chips (as seen at the top of this post), implying she didn't need the money.
It was at that point that (rumored) SCC members responded by posting photos of their bank accounts.
Here's one picture doing the rounds on Weibo:

The screenshot appears to show a bank balance containing 3.7 billion yuan — at current exchange rates around $597 million.
According to OffBeatChina, the owner of this bank account is believed to be 19 years old.
Another user responded by posting a screenshot of their own account:

It's a little hard to make out, but that bank account appears to have over 9.9 billion yuan — $1.5 billion.
These screenshots may well be fakes, but they've certainly stirred a lot of hatred online, where they became part of the highest trending topic on Weibo.
"I'm not surprised hearing something like this," one Weibo comment quoted by Shanghaiist says, "but it is really quite disgusting for a bunch of rich, bored fuerdai [second generation rich] to show-off their fancy lives like this."
As new money pours into China, stories of outrageous rich kids are getting more and more prevalent.
While outrage online is largely directed at the spoiled sons and daughters of newly-mminted entrepreneurs, politicians' families have faced criticism too. Notably last year the fabulous life of Bo Xilai's playboy son was scrutinized and a tragic $1 million Ferrari crash ruined the political ambitions of the young driver's father.

Meh, none of this surprises me. Young, upper class Chinese are more often than not, narcissistic spoiled brats with entitlement complexes.

It's not limited to the super rich either, just any young Chinese that are remotely upper class.

I teach at a school where a lot of the students come from pretty wealthy families. Not as wealthy as the rich kids in this article, but still pretty wealthy. Even though they're 11 year olds in 5th grade, they all have the latest smartphones. One girl in my fifth grade class said that her iphone 5 is the fourth iphone 5 she's had because she lost her other three. She didn't lose three previous generation iphones, she lost three iphone 5s, a phone that has not even been out for a year. It's not a big deal to her, daddy just buys her a new one. It's no wonder she has an attitude problem and an entitlement complex. A lot of the kids seem to think it's their god given right to play with their phone in class whenever they want and when told to put it away they often give me an attitude, lie and say they were looking up a word in their dictionary when they were clearly playing a game, or put it away and take it out 2 minutes later. Just today a girl was watching some music video on her phone, with the sound on, in the middle of class, and when told to put it away she told me "hold on" and pretty much just disregarded me.

My students wonder why I have such an old phone, and when I told them I don't make enough money to buy a new one they said I should just ask the school for more money. That's just how the world works to them, just ask for more money from daddy and you get it.

I've seen several of my students pull out wallets that were brimming with 100 RMB notes. A lot of them, rather than eat the school food for lunch, order takeout meals that cost 50rmb or more, everyday.

Upper class kids are spoiled brats everywhere, but upper class chinese kids take it to a whole new level. Part of the problem is even a lot of upper middle class Chinese still only have 1 child, whom they more often than not spoil the hell out of. Buying their kid whatever he/she wants is just part of being a good parent to them. Another issue is status is extremely big in China, so displaying your wealth, if you have it, just goes along with being upper class. They seem to openly look down on those less well off than they are too.

Before anyone responds with "but how is that any different from rich kids anywhere in the world?" they're not really any different except the fact that in the case of rich Chinese kids, said negative attributes and attitudes are amplified.

Maladjusted rich kids are a blaring reminder of their parent's inadequacies and incompetency as adults.

If I will have a kid like that I will disinherit him/her and will be so ashamed as a parent.

Yeah, status is everything here!

One girl I know told me poor people are poor because they're lazy. Maybe it's government doctrine, who knows.

I've actually only dated two Chinese women who don't have brothers and sisters. One was a princess, but it was more to do with her growing up in a poor family in a poor city.

A lot of Chinese are also choosing to have just one kid - then they lavish attention on he or she.
