I agree on the fattening. The thing is pork is heavily consumed in the Philippines. Think cows=pig.

anamericaninbangkok,

whats your take on Filipina vs. Thai. If you can list an adjective of pros and cons describing them it would be great benchmark.

I think that anamericaninbangkok doesn't have any experience with the Filipinas. Although, since he does know about the food, maybe he also sampled the ladies?

Not had any Philippines food either. Although I have to say that Thai food isn't that healthy. Virtually everything is fried. And - no kidding - there are 14yo school girls who weigh more than Xiongmao.

I saw barely any obese people in China. There were some in Japan, but there are legions here in Thailand.

Putting my food scientist hat on again I'd say cheap palm oil was to blame.

That must be another thing that has changed in Thailand. Back in the 1980s, every time I turned around I was eyeing some absolutely gorgeous female. Now, it is starting to sound like the Upper Midwest of the USA.

There you go assuming again. I have quite a bit of experience with Filipinas, probably more so than most guys on this board including Winston. I've been there for weeks, even months at a time and have made approximately 25 trips there. I used to go there a couple of times a year when I was involved in boxing.

Pandabear - when do you plan on moving to Asia?

Personally, I prefer Thai women any day of the week. Filipinos are too clingy for my taste and I don't find their humor very funny.

As far as comparing food, there is no comparison. Filipino food is fattening as hell. There is quite a bit of Thai food that is very healthy. Also, if you know how to cook Thai food you can use high quality ingredients that make the dish even more delicious than some of the street food. We like to have shrimp with a lime-chili pepper-fish sauce, steamed sea bass, steamed dumplings, and steamed vegetables. You can have Jok for breakfast or Gaeng Jut or Kway Teeo sen lek. All of these foods are healthy, and in moderation, some of the other foods are fine.

Some time next year.

Are Thais getting fatter, as Xiongmao says? Or, does he not know what he is talking about?

Thai people have been getting fatter since I've been here. Isn't this happening in many countries around the world? Long ago, Thais were mostly thin or lean. Once western food began showing up, and with KFC, McDonald's, Burger King, and other fast foods, their diets began changing. I think they're fatter than they used to be, definitely. But there are still plenty of lithe, sexy women to go around. PLENTY.

Also, I've been to China a couple of times. There are fat people in China, without a smidgen of doubt. I rarely saw any linebacker type women but saw plenty with guts. I would not worry about Thai women being fat unless that's the only type of women you can land. There are more fat farang chicks than fat Thai chicks in many of the tourist areas so why sweat it?

Oh, I don't have any illusions about a lovely 19-year-old having a mutually hormonal reaction with a 55 year old. It would be a quid pro quo arrangement. But, hopefully she would remain loyal, and not dump me as soon as she met someone better.

I just returned from Bangkok and can confirm that Cialis and various other ED meds are avail from street venders. We stayed by Sukhumvit Soi 8 (near Nana station) and you can find street peddlers selling everything from viagra to dildos and over-priced fake Samsonite luggages. Quality of said ED pills is, of course, questionable and may contain anything from sawdust fillers to who knows what.

Next time, when I take my 6 year old god-daughter for a walk in Thailand, I'll need to make sure the local business don't have names like "Dr BJ's Nuru Massage" with a dozen scantly clad women sitting in the front. ;p

It cannot be disputed. There are huge numbers of obese people here. Check 'em on Thai Love Links as well. Then go on Chinese Love Links and try and find more than a dozen women who are over 12 stone. Back in 2010 Chnlove had only 2 ladies who were over 12 stone.

I'd guess the obesity epidemic is fairly recent here. What I do know is that there are 12yo school kids who weigh more than I do. I see them all the time riding on the back of motorcycles.

I saw some obese people in Japan, but hardly any in China.

And Nana needs to be cleaned up a bit - that street market is pretty dangerous and a disgrace to see all those illegal goods on sale. A foreigner just got deported for selling sex toys online, meanwhile you can buy the same stuff from a Thai on Sukhumvit. I also had a run in with a bag snatcher in the market.

I already said there are fat women in Thailand, more than in the past. I've been here for almost 20 years and the women have been getting fatter ever since the first day I came here and probably a decade before I came. McDonald's had been here for around a decade when I came here and that's around the time Thai women started gaining size. So it's not "recent."

I also said that there are PLENTY of good, sexy, lithe Thai women. I see, know, and have been with many Thai women who I guarantee the average guy would be dying to f**k. In fact, the heaviest chick I've ever been with, and it was a one-nighter, WAS BURMESE and that's no lie!

Maybe the reason there are 12-year-olds who weigh more than you is because you weigh as much as a seven-year-old Thai girl? My boys are 12 and 11 and they weight about 40 kilos. Is that around what you weigh?

I was in China for approximately 7 weeks - in Beijing and Hui Li. I saw plenty of pigs posing as Chinese women. Big guts on em. Many of the ones dancing in the park were overweight.

Nana needs to be cleaned up? Why? Because you say so? It's been like it is FOR DECADES. Now Xioangmao comes to Thailand and it is a disgrace. Why don't you leave Thailand if you don't like it? Because of your Burmese girl? Please, wake up man. A foreigner got deported BECAUSE he is selling internationally. A Thai selling on Sukhumvit can do so because 1) they're not selling internationally, at least not online and 2) the police around Nana get a cut. That's the mentality. But you wouldn't know this, would you?

Xiaongmao - every time you speak, almost all of your information is skewed or bogus.

"That street market is pretty dangerous and a disgrace to see all those illegal goods on sale." Where do you think many of those illegal goods come from? CHINA!

Also, it's dangerous if you're a dumbass or walking around with your head in the love clouds. Seriously. Start shit with someone, mouth off, make someone lose face, or look like a tourist without a clue and yea, it's dangerous. Be respectful, watch your ass like you should anywhere, and don't talk smack and you will rarely have any problems. My guess to why you had a problem is because you look like a mark. Someone who could be easily had.

Americaninbangkok, you have no right to judge Filipinas in such a negative way. Maybe you never met the right girl. I am a 26 year old Filipina and disagree with what you say about my country.

You are making generalizations about how fattening and bad the food is but you obviously did not try all Filipino food. I agree fast food like Jollibee and Burger King is not healthy but there are other healthier choices available. Some Filipino dishes can be oily and fattening but did you ever try many healthy and tasty food like grilled fish, chop suey mixed vegetables, soups, like beef bulalo. The seafood is tasty, fresh and cheap. Fresh fruits and vegetables are available everywhere here. You must know about fattening food, just look at yourself.

And about Filipinas we don't like foreigners who can't appreciate us.

Nezel sweety, don't take it so personally but I have every right to say what I want about your country, your people, and the food. I've spent quite a lot of time there, I have several very good friends, and while I generally like the people, the women (and I've met many) are not my style. I'm sure if I met the right one I might change my mind but I prefer Thai women. For me, they're better.

I had two Filipina girlfriends and several other "buddies." They were good girls, just not for me.

Also, MOST Filipino foods are fattening, sorry, but deal with the truth. I'm not talking about Jollibee or Burger King - you would never see me in either of those places. Jollibee food is the worst. But I'm sure you know that. While there are some healthy dishes, especially if you're eating mostly vegetables and seafood, there are quite a lot of fattening traditional Filipino dishes.

As far as not appreciating Filipinas, TOUGH SHIT darling. There are some I do appreciate so if you don't like what I said, go bitch about it on the ladies board. I could care less. Don't bitch to me honey.

BTW - I like how you want to talk about my weight...it means nothing to me as I'm in far better shape than you think honey. You have absolutely no idea.

While people in the Philippines do have access to fresh seafoods and vegetables, it just seems to me that Filipinos just haven't cottoned on to food very much. In Thailand, there are people selling delicious food all over the place--from sidewalk vendors to small restaurants. Filipinos, by and large, seem to be considerably less industrious in this way--rather than doing something to make a little money, a lot of them are just squatting beside the road and watching the world go by.

In the Philippines, there were people selling barbecued chicken and barbecued pork, which were delicious. But, even here in the USA, there is a small Filipino store that sells prepared food. Some of their offerings are a bit on the disgusting side. The pork dishes are mostly pork fat. And, the chicken dishes are mostly chicken bones.
