The article is a bit single-sided, as this capital - a new city called Naypyidaw - is nicely located on half way on the main connecting road between Yangon and Mandalay. However what is missing there is the daily business, ordinary people... just underpopulated by both, locals and foreigners.

It will take a while for this city to become a major meeting place, but the location is excellent. Myanmar is still a very poor place in general and we will see if the government can be trusted or not. Not everybody is willing to invest in this place because of its political situation.

I am optimistic, but in this region all takes a long time to see some progress. At this moment, Myanmar is just worth a visit as a foreign tourist, coming in from Thailand. Otherwise it is not a good place to stay for long-term. Accommodation is expensive, medical care is insufficient, plenty of problems with other important issues, like water supply, electricity, internet, missing visa regulations for long-stay etc. etc.

Many years back behind Thailand for sure, but Myanmar is otherwise a very nice place with nice people.
