Anybody got any experience of Singapore? It's my ideal society - you *uck about and you pay for it. There was an incident years ago when an American kid sprayed a car and was sentenced to lashes.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_P._Fay

Brilliant - just what we need here. This *ucked up 4th World country which is England - destroyed by Tony Bliar and Gordon Brown. Over here they'd get 2 weeks community service which they often don't do anyway. I *ucking hate grafitti twats (artists) and would shoot them on sight if it was legal.

Richer country of course - Singapore - so there's no real desperation for a girl to find an older bloke

Singapore is great great great country! I love it. Been there several times, love it to death. Never felt so safe and at ease and comfortable. An island of prosperity in the sea of chaos all around it. And as long as I am not there looking for love, I am happy.

Now, as far as the girls go, do keep in mind that per capita income there is higher than that of Japan now. So, it is a very rich , first world country. Most people are ethnic Chinese who are basically working bees and robots. Nerds rule the country and it is just as well.

Girls? Older blokes are welcome if they have $1,000,000,000,000,000,000 and are White Anglo Saxon execs, CEOs of IBM, Managing Directors of Virgin Airlines, maybe Presidents of Shell inc. That is of course my impression.

It is a society of hard working, A-student type people and workaholic, robotic businessmen. Are you one?

Whoring is available now, mostly ugly and old Thai girls, Chinese from China who cannot speak a word of English , some Vietnamese all of whom who prefer rich ethnic Chinese. Also, call girls are available, escorts, etc. The same scene as in the US.

Not an impossible place to find love but not an easy one, either. About as easy as the US or Japan as I see it.

Western men do not usually go to Singapore looking for love.

I was thinking as somewhere to live. Like a lot of countries though you can't unless you are married to a local.

Just fantazising - not a real chance. Other people have said it's a great place to visit though.

Singapore Sex Guide 2009:
http://singapore.welcumed.com/

I've visited SG about half a dozen times, mostly for work + time off for vacation. Dated 2 SG girls in the US, both very pretty but had some issues. In SG, local men who complain about the women, go to Malaysia to get Chinese-Malay girls instead. SG girls are pretty but have fairly high expectations.

For the first time visitor, I recommend flying SG airlines and use their tourism services (check SG airline web site). Hotel discounts, hop-on buses, tours, etc. Stay at a hotel near MRT station and you can take the train around. If you like shopping, hit Orchid Rd or go just before Chinese New Year, the street vendors offer deep discounts just before CNY, but are closed for 2 weeks afterwards.

SG has a very active night life, from pubs to clubs and night markets. Ask any taxi driver for recommendations. You can also hit Sentosa island, sometimes they have beach party and clubbing events on the beach (many girls in swimsuits). If you enjoy food, SG is food heaven. I like to get kaya toast in the morning. Many food stalls everywhere and open late. I recall eating at stalls next to Alison Hotel (by Bugis) at 3am after partying.

The locals speak English and you shouldn't have communication issues. Your ability to pick up women depends on your game. Be warned that some women walking around Orchid Rd are lady boys from Thailand. On your way out, you can drop by Malaysia next-door to have a look.

Singapore gives Americans three months' visas on arrival. You can stay there for three months and then just go out and stay in Malaysia for three months, go back home and hang out there and come back. I have been living like this since 1990- floating about different countries.

You can live in a lot of countries as:

1) a perpetual tourist- just become a long time visitor, go away and come back. People do it a lot.
2) investor- you got money? come on over.
3) English teacher or examiner. People have lived in other countries for decades like that.
4) retiree- got cash coming into your bank from somewhere? many countries, like the Philippines, have retiree programs. Just put some money in the bank, get a lawyer with contacts and you will be OK.
5) marry a local- the last choice and does not always guarantee visas/residencies in all countries unless you are a woman marrying a local man.

Usually, if you have enough cash, you can get any visa you want.

Singapore is always looking for English teachers by the way. Look into IELTS examiner program, or a DELTA/CELTA certification. You will make some $2500 a month but you can live there for a long time. They are also looking for new citizens all the time.

Love the idea, love travelling and meeting people. I've always wanted to be an English teacher but my current job is so secure I couldn't consider it at the moment.

If I hadn't of got my job as a train driver years ago I was looking at doing a T.E.F.L. course. Where I lived before Salisbury - in Bournemouth, where there are a very high concentration of English language schools. We used to go to a local pub where the foreign students met their friends and they'd just sit at your table and start talking to you (unlike English girls  ).

I posted this before but I'll post it again.

Check out this video of a guy driving around Geylang, the red light district of Singapore, while filming the "merchandise" on the street. Every single girl standing on the street has a model type body that is totally my type and fantasy! They have long legs and are thin and dressed sexy. DAMN! I'd be overwhelmed if I was there. Unbelievable!

I have a question. Are the Chinese in Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan any different from each other? Do they come from the same roots and ethnic clans? How did the Chinese get there? What brought them there?

I stayed in Singapore for a week or so a few years back. From the standpoint of shopping, cuisine, and overall services, it is a great place.

I did not find the women there all that attractive or friendly for that matter. Their look was rather plain and they were wholly indifferent in demeanor. That was the one negative on the place.

My favorite part of Singapore were the Hawker Courts or food courts that were open all night and full of elaborate and healthy and CHEAP foods from China, India, and Malaysia. I would go back just for that!
