Re: Cracking Virgins

Yes I agree, this is much better. I was with several virgins when I was younger. Girls who reach college age in the west seem particularly eager to part with their virginity.

I had 4 girls who basically told me "I don't want to be a virgin anymore"lol And since college in the west has very skewed demographics I had plenty of chances to have a girlfriend with girls inviting me to their rooms even though I was shy. In college even though I looked eccentric it didn't matter too much. Once out it was like living on a different planet.

And yes it's not great sex, there is pain involved for her and not that enjoyable when you can't go for it as you normally would. My experience that women who reach advanced ages before losing their virginity tend to be the ones that don't know themselves sexually very well or are very shy but they are nice people.

There is a conflict between wanting to find a great sex partner and a good woman who will be faithful and keep the home. The ones most likely to be faithful are the ones who are not that into sex but will do it out of devotion to you. They may enjoy it somewhat but it's not something they go looking for. Otherwise they will eventually gravitate towards the better equipped guys.

Anyway great discussion especially ladislav's description, I like to hear opinions of how people judge in various places since I've never been out of the US.

Check this out. Larry Elterman has a new website and forum.

http://forumkurena.safetybis.com/index. ... Itemid=435

Here is his article about the benefits of living in the Philippines.

http://forumkurena.safetybis.com/index. ... Itemid=575

I wonder why he doesn't mention the cons and negatives of living in the Phils, such as extreme heat and humidity, constant scams and leeching from people, the worst food in Asia, overly simple girls with no independent thought and act like mindless zombies with no shame.

All the poor Filipinas say is, "God is good. Praise God. All I want is to take care of my family and buy them a house and flat." They never stop to think, "If God is good, then why are most people in my country, including my family, are suffering and starving in an unfair world?" And they expect foreigners to help their family with free cash, and can't understand why foreigners don't love her family like she does. So stupid. Why doesn't she love his family as much as he does, too? Duh!

I just listened to the first part of the Larry Elterman interview, and the interview is hard to listen to. The interviewer talks more than Larry gets to. The interviewer is angry, he's cussing, he's complaining about how bad America is. Jeez man, give us a break. We tuned in to find out info about the Phillipines not to listen to the interviewer rant about America and American women for most of the interview. Holy moley. STFU and let the guy being interviewed answer questions about the topic of the interview.

I suffered through almost the whole interview but by the end the interviewer was so wound up he couldn't stop himself from talking nonstop and I had to turn it off. It could have been such a good interview.

On the topic of the 2nd interview I say don't publish it - re-do it. If Larry is yelling in the interview it will probably be too tough to listen to. Put together a calm informative re-do interview then publish that. I'd rather wait than give the book author a bad name and make us all suffer through another bad interview.

Hey come on. It wasn't that bad. Sure Steve did interrupt a few times, but not that many times. Larry got to say a lot too, and it was all very informative.

In the 2nd interview, Larry wasn't yelling, but Steve was. They had an argument about whether you needed money to get love in the Philippines or not.

Steve seems to have lost interest in global dating for some reason. Maybe he was disappointed by his trip to the Philippines. He's now doing shows about the lopsided dating scene in America.

Alright, well I guess you guys want to hear new material. So here is Steve and Larry's second interview, never released before. Here they get into a debate about whether you can get a Filipina girlfriend without giving her financial support. Actually, it's not that bad. It wasn't like they were losing their temper or anything. It's just that Steve sounded a little upset for a while. That's all. No biggie. Other than that, it was ok I think.

Let me know what you guys think of the second interview.

I listened to this interview and I really like Larry. He came across as calm and unemotional. And I think the information and insight that Larry provides is invaluable if you're seriously considering a move to the Philippines. Steve, on the other hand, comes across as someone who is emotional, bitter and angry. It's obvious that he's been burned by women before. I know exactly how Steve feels but the only way to get rid of your anger is to let go and not worry about it anymore. Think positive, not negative! Negative thoughts can only depress you and make you miserable. Steve, my advice to you is that you should go to the Philippines as soon as possible!!! If you want to talk economics, even if you haven't saved up much money, I think you could do very well in the Philippines. You have skills that are extremely valuable in the Philippines. The ability to teach people how to making a living at a trade? That's priceless! In the U.S., that's becoming a lost art as the country moves mistakenly towards a more services oriented economy.

And once you get to the Philippines and settle down, you will see how simple a life most Filipinos live. And you'll appreciate their focus on family. I'm not saying that life will be a bed of roses though. There are still lots and lots of problems and local things (like politics and corruption) that will annoy the crap out of you but if you take a step back and look at things objectively, for many men the positives outweigh the negatives.

I agree that initially the main reason for Filipinas wanting to be with a foreigner is to have a better life economically. But don't underestimate their cultural bias on the family. Most Filipinas I know put the highest priority on family and they are looking for love too. So as Larry and Steve said in the interview, it's a win/win situation.

Since this 2nd interview was focused on economics, there were areas that weren't touched upon. The information probably exists elsewhere but it would have been nice to hear Larry's take on things since he's lived there for awhile. The takeaway I heard was $1000 USD a month should cover everything but I guess I was interested in more details. For example, what does it take to open a bank account there? Do you really need an alien registration card to open an account or can you do it with just your country's passport and driver's license?

What about health care costs? Medical, dental, vision. Is there insurance you can buy? What does it get you? What if you have major operations? How much does it cost? What's the cost of medications that you might need, e.g. for high blood pressure, diabetes?

What about communication costs? Cell phone? Internet access? What areas have the best broadband connections (if any)?

Does anyone have any real experience with the retirement visa program?

What if you choose to live in the provinces? How much does a car cost? Gas, registration, licensing, maintenance, insurance?

What if you want to buy property instead of renting? Foreigners can't own real estate (except certain condos) but there is something relatively new where it can be legally documented that a property cannot be sold, modified or whatever without the consent of the foreigner (who is putting up the money for the property).

Thoughts, advice, comments?

small cheese,

Steve may be angry and overly emotional, but he is justified in his anger, as we all know. And his points are very true, eloquent and passionate.

But I see what you mean. He didn't have a valid reason to be upset at Larry during the 2nd interview, and was a bit overly defensive. But oh well, no one is perfect. If Steve was too calm and easy going, he's probably be boring and not as interesting to listen to.

Steve already went to the PH. See the thread about that in the trip report section. He said that it was refreshing that girls there were open and friendly and not man-hating. But he was shocked at how shameless the girls were too, in leeching off him and asking him to pay for their friends.

Most of your cost of living questions are addressed in Larry's book, and also on other threads in the forum. See the FAQ threads link at the top to find them.

Here is a great assessment comparison of lower, middle and upper class Filipinas by Mr S in another thread. Please save this link if you think you might need to reference it later, so he doesn't have to retype it again.

Hey check this out. Someone uploaded one of Steve Hoca's interviews with Larry Elterman to YouTube. It's very informative and it's about a man's guide to life and love in the Philippines. It's a must hear and worth listening to even if you aren't interested in going to the Philippines.

Bank accounts can be opened without an ACR (through credit cards are more difficult), pasport will do, sometimes thats not even necessary. HSBC is one of the better global banks (citibank is also there). BDO is one of the best local banks.

No dental or vision coverage that I know of but dental work isn't expensive. A checkup at an upper end dentist will cost around $30.00. Can get fillings etc. for $30.

You can get local healthcare at ~$50 per month last time I checked. Most healthcare options don't cover pre-existing conditions for the first year of coverage but offer reasonable coverage. St Lukes Medical center, and Fort Med in Makati are both very good. Doctors visit may cost around $10-$20 even for a specialist. X-rays ~$30. MRI ~$200.00. Surgery is generally a fraction of US cost. Simple procedures ~100-300, with more complex procedures in the $2000-$4000.00 range.

Internet access ~$25.00 per month PLDT or Globe DSL. Smart or Globe are best bets for cell phone as well. Incoming calls are free (no air time). SMS messages are very cheap ~1-2cents per message. Most people SMS. Most go with pre-paid plans where you top up load as you go.

$1000.00 per month will barely cut it in Makati but can go a long way in the provinces. A nice studio in Makati would range ~$300.00 - $800.00 per month. Most landlords want 6 months to 1 year advance rent plus deposit.

Used cars are your best bet with a very robust used car market (check buy and sell for local classifieds). Can get a decent used car for approximately 3-4K USD. Toyota, nissan, mitsubishi, or honda are best bets (in that order) for cars as there are the most common in PH with the most spare parts available. Registration isn't very expensive (I forget the figures) gas is not much more or less expensive than anywhere else. You can get a driver for ~200.00 per month and a maid for ~$70-150/month (full time live-in).

You can buy some condo's as a foreigner, you can buy land or property if you are married to a local (in their name), or through a corporation ie.. 60-40 (Filipino-foreigner ownership). Typical trick is to have the 60% filipino owners assign their stock rights to the foreign ownership effectively giving up control.

If you go to the Living in Cebu forum there is extensive information about costs not only in Cebu but elsewhere in PI. Like anywhere else your lifestyle and expenses can vary quite a bit.

A lot of the guys there who are married get Phil Health which is very cheap (I wanna say something like $50/year) and covers a modest portion of medical expenses but is considered a steal if you are a Philippines citizen or are married to one.

steve hoca is priceless. very funny to listen to hes soo animated and the contrast between the two is great. i spent 6 mths there its easy to get laid, beer is cheap, rent is ok but u got to pay for acon. i think 1k is do able if you avoid whores dont travel that much and avoid big cities. food isnt bad there but if your adicted to western food its gonna be ruff. worst fish and chips ive ever eaten, worst mexican food ive ever eaten and worst burger ever eaten all were in the philippines. so stick to local, thai jap restaurants they are good. i agree with steve dont marry these women and bring them back to states. just live there if she gets out of line tell her that her friends would love to be with you.
