In East Asia, the traditional "valentine's day" is 七夕, which takes place on July 7th every year on the Chinese calendar. This year it was yesterday (in Asia) and today in North America. You can read more about it here:

In Taiwan, single women go to temples and pray that she would find her lover or husband soon on this day:

If you can't understand Chinese, watch it from 0:18 or so. Both men and women go to temple to pray, but usually it's a lot more women than men. Some temples do "match making" activities, where the girl goes up to a balcony and cast a red ball, guys on the bottom are supposed to catch it and they're tied at the hand by a red string.
