my first taste of social life

every year i go to camp during the summer time
for one week and it is INCREDIBLE!!
I can have fun talk, show my talents
speak to everyone like i have known them for years
and there was this comfortable feeling
i can not explain it
i did not have to worry about my skin color
or racial background
the people seen me as a human being
please the weather was so gorgeous
(this was not seattle and its awful weather year round)
this was in leavenworth one year
another at orcas island
and wow going to sleep outside with the
stars at night
the crickets making thier sounds
oh my goodness
and staying up half the night
talking to buddies in the cabin
tell you it was like peace of paradise
and i could talk to the women
without fear of my looks
or being african american
instead I can be funny, kind,
wild.
(which i am when im comfortable
in the envirment with good people)
and at the end of week
i felt like i have known those people
for years
but in public school
i was with classmates
for a full year
and i hardly knew some
people's names
belive it or not
they don't want to
talk about smart things
or make friends
but anyway
those times at camp
are what got me curious
and thinking of a much better life
i relized finally that it was not my fault that i don't have friends
or a girlfriend
I was a nice guy fun to be around when you get to know me
and plus i generelly like when people talk to me first
and break the ice
(which never happens in the pacific northwest in washington)
I had the feeling of what it was like in camp
to be in a great social atmosphere
and i got the bug agian
and i don't think it will leave this time
well with millions of countries in the world
all its gonna take for me is to just go for it
and don't look back

You 'll have to arm yourself with patience. Get the GED and you can then become a merchant marine or something. Anyway, what are your plans? The only thing standing between you and the life you want is money. How are you planning on making it?

i think i'll get a part time job and make enough money for the
plane ticket and about a year of liviing expenses in the
new country i plan to go. maybe i'll work for 6 months to year or so

It will involve saving some 5-10K. Can you do that with a part time job in six months?

I am a American of African descent too and I was wondering if you have advice for someone who has a BA not a master's degree but I have training beyond university. I saw that there is only teaching and if you have connections you can get a decent job. I am trying to see if there is anyway I can either go to Europe or to the Middle East. If there is only teaching what should I do? I do know that you need TESOL. Is there any option of working in the Middle East without the TESOL certificate or should I get the certifcate than go? I am looking for options as America is basically finished as country and I know beyond my social health, working somewhere else will be better.

The reason I got the TESL diploma is precisely that- it is the easiest way to get hired and leave the country, like, now. Most other jobs are VERY hard to get because of you not being a citizen/resident of those countries, and they protect their job markets. No foreigners allowed. There are some exceptions to the rule, like when you have joint US- foreign ventures or US companies abroad or when they need people like deep water divers, or oil field specialists/engineers or trainers of pilots, etc.

They have jobs on ships, too. Merchant marine jobs. But would you rather be stuck on a ship with a bunch of guys or have a class full of young Oriental girls?

US citizenship is a good thing but not the best. An American does not need visas to enter most countries, but he needs permits to work there. A Brit or a German can live in 27 countries and work there in just about any capacity with no visas and no permits. Medical care is free. When you are old, the EU will support you and help you financially way better than the US would.

Gulf Arab nationals can work in some 6-7 countries and get free medical care, as well.

An American can only work in one.

Anyway, the answer seems to be this:

There are non teaching jobs but they are very rare.
You can try oil rig jobs and ship jobs but do you, a BA holder, want to do those?
There are engineering and pilot jobs once in while.
There are some training jobs for the military /ex-military.

Otherwise, you may want to try and have a website that makes money. That is ideal.
If you marry a national, you will be able to get a work permit in most countries and work in other disciplines.

You will find that teaching is still the easiest.

W: A camp counselor sleeps in the same room as the kids of the camp. You live on that camp, you don't come home until the camp is over. But you could do it the whole summer. I don't know if it would pay anything though. Sounds like a fun job though.

Maybe you could romance one of the other female camp counselors? lol

Even if you don't get laid, you will have fun and be in a nice social atmosphere where everyone knows you. There will be camp outs, barbecues, toasting marshmallows by the campfire, campfire stories, arts and crafts, bow and arrow practice, etc.
