Why I love Russian music

Older one but still very beautiful

Blows Britney, Madonna and that pile of shit we've got Amy Whorehouse to bits

Russian is such a beautiful language too and not hard to learn as some people seem to think (Polish is very difficult). I hope to speak it fluently someday when I get the time to learn. For example 'sport' is спорт and easy to read once you know с = s, п = p and p = r. Russian is basically pronounced as it is written unlike many English words.

Yeah, that Amy is such a deadbeat! I would put her out of her misery if i could.

You should use bittorrent to your advantage. I suggest downloading the Russian Pimsleur Russian language course levels 1-3, and then just pop in the lessons into your ipod and then when you go about town listen and practice.

I've downloaded it myself just in case I end up going there in the future. If you need advice on how to go about doing this just reply here or PM me.

In America if you try and turn on music that is not in English, people immediately get upset and even walk out. It is as if you were committing something sacrilegious. The exception to the rule would be a few token songs here and there by Santana and some ethnic communities recently immigrated who listen to their music. With Russian music you have to be even more careful. You will get called all kinds of names if you listen to it and in some places you can get shot ( I am serious).

I used to some of those songs too. I bought a lot of Russian CD's too. Are those songs still popular? I like this group that sings love songs there called Gosti ti budushu (sp?). Their songs are very moving and romantic. Do you like them too Kris?

Гости Из Будущего - Guests From the Future. The name comes from a 70's kids' program.

I liked Lubyme ya po Franchuski - but not keen on their later stuff

Japanese Music is relatively good too. Kind of like American music from the 80's.

Japanese Music

Post by Kris »

I have several Aya Ueto CDs and some DVDs of Morning Musumi concerts but I find that Japanese vocals don't sound that nice because of the language - a bit clipped rather than flowing. Same thing happens with German songs - some good music but vocals ....... hmmm

This one isn't bad though Alex C feat. Y-Ass - Liebe Zu Dritt http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sp7AIKTz ... re=related

Aya Ueto http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dVxXs44 ... re=related

I have some of her films and TV shows too 'Attention Please!' is the best where she is a trainee Air Hostess - Sexy...

Tangerine Dream:

Another nice songs of theirs: Tsubasa No Keikaku

Of course, all of this might suffer from outsider bias (Russian Music too!), meaning we only hear the cream of the crop and assume even the average is superior (though I doubt thats the whole story).

Here's a song I really liked in Russia. Its rhythm ran through my veins, like a lot of Russian pop songs did.

Check out this email I received about how Russian songs praise men whereas modern American songs don't:

"Hiya, this isn\'t really related to dating per se, though I'm a big fan of your site, and experience has shown that foreign women are almost always nicer to me, I can even go to different states and get treated better than I do in this state.

Anyway, the main reason I\'m writing is because I wanted to show you some foreign music vs US music.

This song is a Russian song, it\'s very recent of a song, it\'s Infiniti - You Are My Hero
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHUZrGEgL6A
http://lyricstranslate.com/en/ty-moy-ge ... -hero.html

First off, lyrically, it\'s very odd to hear a song where a girl just praises a guy. Most American songs by women seem to be about somehow bashing a man one way or the other. But this is just pure praise. Huh? Then in the video, most American songs, for a man in the video, they have to put a guy in who\'s super \"Alpha\" whereas this guy here, while he\'s not like, bad looking or anything, he\'s certainly no badass looking biker dude or anything like that. He\'s a pretty normal looking male who\'d probably be classified as \"beta\" but this girl still likes him and is apparently his wife (or maybe livein girlfriend, but it looks more wife to me.)

Interesting, no? I listen to lots of foreign music, and it\'s for the most part better than what comes out of USA. Though, USA does kinda spill into foreign music and mess it up. We can see this with the Japanese pop group Dream. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=soYC9Gy0HCY This song is one of my favorite songs ever. Almost no sluttiness going on in the video, too. Circa 1997. http://www.animelyrics.com/anime/inuyasha/mywill.htm Lyrics, too.
This is Dream in 2010 or 2011. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RaAcw5ZqczA http://www.jpopasia.com/lyrics/33865/dr ... girls.html Yep...

I notice now in American songs, \"love\" is not discussed very much anymore. All the songs on the radio are all just about \"hooking up\" and clubbing, never is \"love\" a topic anymore, unless of course it\'s spoken of negatively.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-Z3YrHJ1sU I don\'t listen to the radio much at all anymore (I do have to bear it when others listen to it) but that\'s about the last artistic song about love I\'ve heard on the radio, and it\'s from Romania.

For some reason, I feel like music is a good window into a country. And America\'s window looks scary as hell. And again, the sorta aversion to like, good old fashioned love songs, is weird. I believe that aversion was partially why disco got killed in the USA (but lived on very well in Europe.)

I find it really weird, as I like this kinda happy foreign pop music (especially Italodisco,) and everyone just thinks I\'m a freak because I\'m not listening to music explicitly about sex or about how a guy is angry and how everything is terrible. I\'ve only met one person in my entire life who seemed to \"get\" my music tastes, and it was a 60 year old Italian guy I gave a ride to in my car while I was playing it. He started fist bumping and said he was so happy someone in America likes that kinda music. It was the best. Also, oddly, people tend to mistake me for a foreigner in my daily dealings with people. Like I\'ve had a Pakistani guy ask what country I\'m from, when I\'m 21 and have non-immigrant parents and have lived here all my life. I\'ve been diagnosed with Aspergers, too. Weird.

Anyway, sorry for boring you with this long email (though your site isn\'t few in words either) but I kinda just wanted your feedback on this observation, so if you could write me back, I\'d greatly appreciate it.

Thanks a lot,
Joe "
