I feel that a lot of the first world comparative advantages will be diminished if not gone by 2113. That means the world will have reached a more balanced economic parity for the major developing countries. Unfortunately, I think that means the feminism virus may have spread to those newly middle class majority countries and it reduces the pool of quality women everywhere.

I don't believe human advancement will be as dramatic as it was from 1911 to 2011 though. I believe human technological and cultural progression is flattening out. We've probably come close to maxing out our capabilities.

I think if you gave me a choice i'd choose the future simply because I like taking a risk and striking out for the unknown.

It´s gonna be awful in 2013 if you are living in western countries ... Our societies are bound to die and nothing we can do will make this stop. There is no way our societies can compete against younger, healthier ones. We dont have enough children while we have too many old people. It´s that simple.

2113 will be a time where information technology: AI & robotics will be as ubiquitous as corn products are today. In that future, a lot of work will be automated and thus, being middle class, in effect, will be basically being some part of a guaranteed income society, since otherwise, there would be no economy.

Thus, if you're happy with robotic and AI friends and b*inking 'bots, it'll be a fine place to be. If it's more like Matt Damon's Elysium movie, a complete dystopia, then it'll be a living hell.
Many years ago, the Best Picture of 1999, "American Beauty", telegraphed the message of Happier Abroad to the world.

Beware of long term engagements with AWs, you may find yourself in a coffin.

AB discussion thread

BTW, despite settling down with an AW, myself, the warning is still in effect.

2113 could portend to be an interesting time. By then fiat based currency, debt & resource based economies will more than likely have collapsed. It is already apparent that these systems (esp. fiat currency) are a massive failure. Items, goods and services in 2113 would be determined by a different medium of exchange. They could be replaced with a resource that is universal, and that each and every human has -- labor and time. As Ben Franklin put it, time is money.

We are already seeing the rise of "Time Banks" around the world. Unlike debt based currency that places an arbitrary value on a service or item, an hour is an hour. It encourages productivity rather than having a stranglehold of finite resources available only to "the highest bidder". Everyone's time is valuable and everyone has something to offer that can contribute to the betterment of society. Exchange time also has shown to strengthen social ties in communities and the economic engine of local-based entrepreneurship.

Either that, or we could see some pretty nightmarish, evil shit with an oppressive surveillance state with all the trimmings that would be Hitler's wet dream...biometrics and everything. Frankly, I'm very scared of the future because this seems to be the direction we are going. I almost think being a peasant in 2013 is paradise compared to what 2113 middle class would be like. Im willing to bet that in 2113 you'd be forced onto the machinations of the Orweillian-like control grid in order to live the comfortable middle class lifestyle. And if you were to refuse on principle to go without them, it would be very hard to survive.

The idea is catching on worldwide with the emergence of "Time Banks". It encourages productivity rather than having a stranglehold of finite resources available only to "the highest bidder". I think banking will ultimately save the world. Bankers would see their investments threatened and adopt a new paradigm. Bankers saving the world -- imagine that?

I also think US hegemony would not be as near as it is today. Imagine Asians/Mexicans coming to the USA to shop for a wife! lolz

Yellowstone volcano will erupt any minute and then its the end of life on the earth for good.

it erupts every 600,000 Years and we're 30,000 years LATE.all the ash will kill all plant life on earth for hundreds of yrs.the sun will be blocked for decades.its 1000 times more powerfull than St.Helen volcano.

scientists have also underestimated its true power.Recentely they said its about 50,000 tiems stronger than Mount St.Helen supervolcano.

its the end guys, this is our last century.

If a Vingeian or Kurzweilain singularity has taken hold by then.... definitely 2113!

Peak Oil will not result in death, at least not first worlders.

It may seem like companies and banks are pursuing short term goals, but on the contrary they aren't.

Oil Companies will reboot into Energy Companies; Right now given the massive profits and subsidies they generate now for shareholders and stakeholders, means until it becomes extremely difficult to extract oil they will continue to do so. They are currently planning drilling in near the North Pole and given the patterns of ice melting that will happen.

Automobile efficiency is increasing and despite the hand wringing from PR reps in Detroit, Japan, Korea and Germany, the truth is the push is on to take 30-35% of the weight out of cars to meet the mandate of 50+ mpg. You will see diesels and gas hybrids will expand. Electric cars will continue to be pushed but limited range and cost will keep them out of most people's driveways for at least another decade or two if not longer.

There is a push back against GMO crops and they are largely winning that debate, elsewhere.

But anyway given all that + the tech advances (you haven't see anything yet) -

We will live longer, grow taller and be able to live in places only dreamed of a few generations earlier.

I just want the Global Banking Reset to happen so we can get on with it.

to successfully make the transition from oil to green energy would take 20 yrs for america alone,it would require putting solar panels and windmills on 15 % of earth's land mass.

oil is also used for plastic, toothpaste, cosmetics, fertilizer wich are needed to package and send food to cities aswell as mass agriculture.had you wacthed the ''collapse''documantary then you would have known that alternative energy is not possible.
They are currently planning drilling in near the North Pole and given the patterns of ice melting that will happen.
they've tried that for years in alaska,it won't happen.the oil just freezes in the drilling pipes.it costs too much to purify the oil and make it usable.therefore the cost of making the oil usable will be way more than the money coming in from selling it.therefore companies wont do it.

its not that oil will run completely out.its that the transition to other energies cost too much,we don't have enough time and it will take alot of landmass.for example making algae into an energy costs alot of petroleum energy.companies will realize that it takes too much out of their pocket to make the alternative energy than whats coming in.they therefore won't do it.

if it takes 20 gallons of oil to make one gallon of alternative energy fuel than they won't do it.

if it takes 2 gallons of energy to extract 1 gallon of energy from the earth,or the north pole,or the lalaland or whatever than they won't do it .and that is what is peak oil.
