longtime lurker takes the plunge

Post by getmyazzouttahere »

I have been lurking here for a long time. I was hesitating to join because, frankly, there is stuff that gets said here that I cannot stand at times- but, I'll just have to give the ignore feature a good workout, because you guys are among the FEW people here who get it, about what has become of the US in general. I am at the end of my rope with dealing with this country, and with the overwhelming majority of its people. I'm not joining here for tips on how to pick up a nightclub full of Russian chicks. I'm joining here because the umpty-millionth infuriating incident with disrespectful scumbag customer-service people, followed by the fun of being tailgated to and from my destination at every phucking turn, has finally been the proverbial "straw that broke the camel's back" tonight; and I only JUST barely avoided any of the above turning into an actual fight...and if you knew me IRL, you'd never think of me that way. I'm about as much of a fighter as Mr. Rogers. When even I can't stand a place or a given society of people, you know that that place is jacked up beyond all repair.

I should probably just cut it short for tonight, and see how it goes posting at this place. I don't even want to guess at my blood pressure right about now. I've had enough for one evening. There is a TON more that I could say, pretty much confirming just about every single rant about the USA that has already been said here. All that I have to add is that this site, despite some of the more offensive content that I've read here at times, is still an absolute oasis full of some of the only people out there who seem to get it. I can't tell you how valuable it is not to be questioning myself endlessly about why I am the only person here who sees this sh!t happening out there.

Have any of you ever read the Stephen King book (or the movie), "It"- that one scene where the kids realize that nobody else in their backwards little hometown can even see or hear the evil clown except them- and that the town adults seem to be ignoring the evil force deliberately? That's how I feel out there, I swear.

First off welcome to the forum, You are absolutely correct. This "Cuntry" the USA, is an unfriendly, individualistic, social cluster phuck! I notice even when I go in to a restaurant, how sh!tty the service is. The saggy @$$ posture, sh!tty facial expressions. Americans are not friendly until their Government decides to blow up some sh!t, fly planes into buildings. Then everyone wants to get together, hold hands and sing Koom-by-ya and stick out their chest and sing the Trational Anthem. Yet trample all over each other in every day life. F@CK EM!

I don't want to be a party pooper here, but better customer service and less aggresssive drivers are not two of the things you leave the US for. You will find both infinitely worse in some other countries, probably most (though some like the fact that in Europe the waitress isn't pestering you to move along all the time; they assume you're going to stay and kick back for a couple of hours, and you have to flag them down if you want your check).

There are a million other good reasons to split that get ventilated here, but I wouldn't put those two anywhere near the top of the list.

Please read my post a bit more carefully. I stated above that the incidents that happened tonight were a "final straw" kind of thing, not the full extent of my problems with this place.

Welcome to the forum, getmyazzouttahere! I know the exact same feeling to be honest. Every little thing that kept bothering me about the U.S., I kept-in, until I could no longer take it anymore one day.

It actually started back in my early childhood years, but it got progressively worse as a I became older. I started to see things around me about society that no other people saw, except for a few enlightened individuals and friends. It still is taboo to talk about as Winston has mentioned many times before.

If you ever talk about the things we talk about on this forum, you would be considered 'crazy,' 'weird,' or just plain 'loser.'

Things really started changing in the country during the 80s and 90s, but 9/11 was what broke the camels back for me. That event--along with the invasion of Iraq--woke me up to the nonsense that was going on in this country. That, and society started going to hell with all the school shootings, racial violence, and general 'dumbing down' of society...

Your best bet is the plan to find a way to leave the country...I don't care how long it takes, because it took me years to plan my escape: first, I quit my good health care job to get my college degree. Then I got my TESOL certificate online, and then saved-up some money for my trip abroad. It took guts to do it, but it's possible as many other members here have done.

Okay, just be aware that the two specific grievances you cited -- bad customer service and aggressive drivers -- are much worse in most other countries. So, if they annoy you, prepare to be further annoyed when you move.

Welcome!

Well I went abroad. I've seen some ugly stuff here as well.

Have you watched Michael Douglas in Falling Down? It should be essential watching for anyone who is here.

Welcome getmyazzouttahere.

We all feel your pain. All the toxic shit and dysfunction and degeneration in America is obvious, but no one dares to talk about it. It's scary. People either are afraid, or don't see it cause they are brainwashed not to, or don't want to be considered losers who complain. Those of us who see the obvious and talk about it feel alienated. It's lonely when you are the only one willing to talk about the truth.

The modern American culture is very DEGENERATE. People commonly look like depressed degenerates, as if they've been contaminated by bad things and fed with toxic unhealthy chemicals. People do not look wholesome, natural or normal like they did in the 60's and 70's. (Just look at photos and films from the past, and you'll see what I mean) Young people are tasteless. They listen to bad music and desecrate their bodies with tattoos and piercings.

Values and morals have been INVERTED and flipped UPSIDE DOWN: Bad is good and good is bad. Low degenerate things are seen as cool and hip. Cold uncaring personalities who don't give a shit are idealized, while the warm gentle kind caring personas of the past are seen as outdated and abnormal. This is reflected in movies and TV too. Before the 1990's, TV characters were warm, kind, wholesome and caring. Nowadays, if you are romantic, sensitive, soulful and deep, you are out of place in America.

Sadly, most young people are conformists and will conform to a bad degenerate toxic culture than reject it and risk alienation from their peers. In other words, if a culture turns bad, most young people will turn bad with it, just to be accepted. They have no inner convictions or standards.

That movie started out ok, but the ending sucked and was dismal. The protagonist was treated like a criminal just because he wanted to see his ex-wife and child. Douglas should have pointed his gun at Duvall and told him to get lost, instead of just trying to ignore him. His ex-wife was a bitch too and should have been punished for not letting him see his daughter. What a f***ed up ending. Douglas was tough throughout the whole film and then didn't even put up a fight at the end. What a let down.

Thanks z; nice to meet you.

I've noticed the changes over the decades, too. In my case, I am 34 years old and am VERY much one of those back-to-the-'80s types, & am not at all embarrassed to admit it. Like a lot of you guys, I've been branded a weirdo, a loser, etc., and told to "get over it", blah blah blah. It's like the sheep get all of their cheap knee-jerk retorts out of the same unoriginal book. It's almost like being confronted with the slightest challenge to the only world that they've known for all this time, just provokes something almost instinctive in them.

I noticed how much further out of control this place has gotten in general, since Sept. 11th, like you mentioned. I notice it going even further back- for me, it seemed to start around 1990. The US "won" the Cold War, and capitalism became the lone force regulating the world. Nobody was strong enough to check this country's excesses anymore, or to provide that healthy counterpoint that a socialist opponent did. The working class was destroyed at the stroke of Clinton's pen when union factories closed down forever. The political-correctness movement got more and more pervasive. The racial obsessions started. The so-called "Hispanic race" was invented out of thin air. The arts declined. Kurt Cobain, the Spice Girls and gangsta rappers became world-famous millionaires while virtuoso guitarists and singers ended up working at Home Depot. The healthcare system got ever more cruel and unequal and barbaric...and all of a sudden, every random neighbor down the street was suddenly "clinically" depressed and dropping SSRI medications. The war machine found a new Third World hellhole to attack on an almost annual basis. Everything went wrong. The place lost its sh1t irreversibly.

And here we are today, with angry, snide, belligerent women covered in sleeves of hideous biker-tats (I am not actually 100% anti-tattoos for women, either- but, somewhere along the line, they went WAY the hell overboard in a way that is no longer artistic, beautiful aesthetically, or unique in the least). Their actual physical figures are distorted; more and more of them end up either obese, anorexic or grotesquely muscular. They dress terribly. Either they act like male soldiers whooping it up on shore leave, or they seem to turn prim and standoffish. They don't eat food anymore; it's either toxic GMO chemical junk food, or sprigs of artesanal organic parsley and lemons. Gone are meat and potatoes. They screech into cell phones, wear pajamas to the county courthouse, and take out life insurance and vacation packages for their dogs. For their dogs

Other guys generally have turned increasingly d!ckish and overly competitive over everything. They converse about nothing but work. Anyone who is not a money-grubbing corporate workhorse or swaggering thug is shunned. They strut around like insecure morons with their fat guts crammed into sports trunks and flip-flops and baseball hats until they're fifty years old, either looking for stupid fights, or talking amongst their clique about work, or roaring around suburban streets in the family Escalade, making believe that it's really a Lambo. Some of them take to zombie video games. Others live zombie video games in their doomsday-prepper barricades.

Their children take medication, and receive trophies and A+ grades for showing up to school, breathing, and refraining from shooting anybody that day.

Climate change dials up the thermostat on this inferno with every passing year. Random blizzards and hurricanes and tornados have replaced four seasons. The SUVs keep a-rollin', though.

Hell yes, I've been dying to get out...

Hi Winston, I've noticed stuff like this, too. I mentioned it to zboy above, I am 34 and there are absolutely no words to describe how badly I miss the '80s, myself- and it's true; people are actually different physically now. It's absolutely creepy to see the change. Even worse than the loud mouths full of hate-speech and curses, even worse than the slovenly clothes on sick and medicated bodies- no, the worst part is the look in their eyes. That look. That half-hostile, half-slack-jawed vacant look. Nobody's home. The lights aren't on.

The hell of it all is that to say these things now gets you branded a conservative, even if you are an actual card-carring socialist ideologically. The so-called "Culture Wars" have turned every single term and reference point onto their heads.

Mix in PC speech codes, hard right-winger religious fanaticism, corporate business lingo, idiotic "urban" slang and the talking-to-Prozac factor, and you're pretty much staring into the face of madness whenever you try to do so much as chat with an acquaintance.

I swear, it's like every dystopian fiction plot ever imagined, all rolled into one ultimate nightmare.

If you continue to write like this epic post you can become a legend just for those descriptive writing skills. You just put at least 1 million motherfuckers on blast with that one. If Irrizarry sees this post, we might hold him down while he laughs.

Irizarry is a ghetto imbecile. I'd put him on ignore; but his pathetic attempts to speak broken Spanish in order to ingratiate himself with Latinos is the funniest sht going. That one particular anecdote of him fighting it out with some random Mexican waitress in a restaurant because she preferred to speak to him in English (most likely because his "Spanish" was that bad)= comedy gold. Wait, isn't he 1/264th Brazilian? My bad. Totally Latino

He's a monger, a gay-basher and race-obsessed. Scum like him pretty much illustrate the things that I hate most about the USA in the first place.
