Over here we tend to judge people on how good they are not the colour. That's why we think George Bush is an idiot but we like Barrack Obama - there has never been such an interest in the American elections before as there was this time. Another important thing to keep in mind is that outside of Planet America, where your identity is "Black", and that of others is Asian, Hispanic, etc, the people in many parts of the world judge people by nationality, not by these simplistic, over-generalized racial categories into which you get dumped in the USA. I did not know I was "White", and did not even know the US meaning of Male Caucasian. I am not from Caucasus! I am not from Armenia! But as long as I am in the US, that is the strange category they put me into. And do it formally, too. And I was absolutely puzzled when I was asked to put ethnicity: "white". What the f*** is that? You mean that is what I am now? White is not an ethnicity. Who makes up all these categories? Surely not anthropologists.

It will take you some time to become "unused" to all this and unlearn this. In many, many places outside of the US, people are called by nationality- Brazilians, British, Germans, Americans, Canadians which is how I think people should be called, don't you? You will, first and foremost, be American to them, that is how many people will see you, and being an American is a very honorable thing.

People also judge you by whether you are wealthy or not. A poor person ( or he who looks poor and pitiful) is not welcome anywhere, while a rich American is a boon to many people. It does not mean flashy, but one who exudes power to buy things, shows confidence and wealth in his movements and the way he does things.

I am not saying race does not matter, but also, do keep in mind that the way Americans divide humanity ( into five big chunks) is not how a lot of other people see it.

You will also learn to see yourself as an American man and not as a Black man after some time.

You are absolutely right. And the threshold for being black in Russia is even lower. Azeris and Georgians who are about as dark as Greeks are already "black". There was a case of a Serb who got beat up by racist skinheads there for being "black" and an all American Irish descent dude got beat up too. He was one of those Black Irish. An all white man in America but Russians have other ideas, obviously.
Hollywood uses Arab actors ( Omar Sharif) and all these Bulgarians ( dark as Turks) to portray Russians because an average American does not know what a Russian looks like. An Omar Sharif would now have his a## kicked and even Bulgarians would be beat up by those who do not like anyone without Slavic/Finnish look of a typical ethnic Russian.

I am finally glad that another American of African descent is on the forum. I am trying to also leave America. It is sad that you thought you did the right thing to marry the woman and to be successful. I hope that you are able to find a nice latina and do well with your business. Although in my case I do have a university degree, it is hard to do an occupation besides teaching. I have tried to look at other areas but you need some real experience and connections. Oh well, I am glad there is some brothers that like Asian women although it seems you also like latinas which is good too. Ladislav is right about going in the P.I. or Indonesia if you are able too. You can try Taiwan and Japan although it will probably be more for fascination first than love. I might try Taiwan although I still cannot get myself to go do teaching. I presume you mean places where you can date and mingle with people without much prejudice.

Best- 1) all countries where people are poor and black, obviously. Black Africa( particularly Ethiopia)- an enormous area to cover. Black Carribean-, Barbados, Trinidad, St Lucia, Martinique, Guayana, Surinam, French Guiana.
2) Countries that have been born out of the mixture of three races one of which is Black. Dominican Republic, Panama, Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela.
3) In Asia only the Philippines comes to mind because they do have Black blood- again, a mixture of three or more races. Stay away from the rest except only for a brief sight seeing visit.

Ladislav is right about the Philippines: there are Black people in the Philippines, to paraphrase, especially in pockets of Mindanao and the Visayas (Go to Negros Island - you guys can thank me later!!). A lot of Pinoys of Afro descent are self-hating as well as alot non Afro Pinoys due to colonization and influence of the Spaniards and Americans pillaging that country, but there are quite a few that are proud to be partially Black.
