Maybe It's Just Me....
But why do parents become so hush hush about sex? Maybe it's me, but something set me off. My cousin is shacked up with a guy, and she got pregnant. She called, told my mom, and she proceeded to tell everyone. My nephew, naturally inquisitive, asked who she was. She told him that she was his cousin. Then she mentioned Mike. He then asked who he was. She was then silent and went on. I understand that he is not my mom's son, and maybe I am libertine, but to me, I would just say boyfriend (if he were my son). If he asked more, I would explain. So here is a thought: do you think that women are more paranoid about telling kids about it than men? I remember that I started going to a youth group, and I simply asked, since I understood the basic concept, but not how, when I was twelve. IDK. To me, I think you should not BS a kid about what the world is like, even if it is ugly. If a kid has a question, just answer all he asks, and if he asks more, go for it. Am I a libertine?

She probably figured she didn't want to go down the "where do babies come from?" road.
Gossiping? yes.
Providing info you ask for? Eh, not so much.
But, you now know the origin of the phrase "go ask your father".
Well, back when a kid had a father nearby to be asked.

haha true. I understand the whole ask your parents. I defer too. But sometimes I wonder if I am too liberal about things, even if just for a moment.
She asked if he remembered who Mike was. Then when he asked who he was, she was zip. IDK, I would have just said her boyfriend. If he asked from there, I would have let parents handle it. Maybe it is just me, but gay people exist, people shack up, there are bad people out there, etc. . I wish I was not as out of the loop, otherwise I would have not been as cynical as I am. I am not blaming my parents, they were pretty open. To me, you should present facts like Wikipedia. No more, no less. IDk. Just my thoughts.

Many parents don't want to talk about sex. Then their children will likely become divorced, paying support, or go after sluts for girlfriends and brides if a boy. If a girl then she will be having sex, go for players and scum, and become a slut. Parents should talk to their children about it by 12 years old. Either the child can begin taking on responsibility and be trusted with knowledge or the parents are hurting the child's future because the odds are the child will not stay ignorant. He or she will learn it from others and then probably do things they wouldn't do if their parents talked to them about it and gave the details and why what they are saying matters in reality (why what they are saying is logically justified. Not just moral reasons why they shouldn't do something).

Tsar, I agree. I will give my patents that, they did not beat around the bush when I asked. But at the same time, you don't want to force children into things. I remember when my parents accused me of masturbating, and I did not even know what they were talking about. They kept keeping pressure on me, so I lied 0_0 .
