I think that many of the elements are metaphors for reality.
Nicholas Tesla was almost finished attempting his grand project to build a free energy device using the geomagnetic energy until it was shutdown after receiving financing from JP Morgan and having the funding withdrawn. There is much more to his story. On his deathbed US agents seized all the records, journals, and notes. Did they go to a select group of people, a secret order, the government, or to corporations? Free energy would have destroyed the profits of many people and changed the entire course of world history. It would have destroyed the interested of those who owned coal mines, the primary form of power and heat and the profit potential of oil. Many powerful interested would have lost their fortunes including the Rockefellers and the Vanderbilts, and I would imagine even the infamous Rothschilds.
Dracula could be seen as a metaphor. Anyone who reveals their true intentions or hints at them would be destroyed or even killed if they attempt to challenge the Illuminati. Many people who attempting to release groundbreaking technologies would have been killed. Energy and medical technologies are the two areas that are suppressed. It's for oil, coal, and the pharmaceutical interests. Hemp and Cannabis were made illegal for similar reasons. Competing currencies are suppressed or destroyed if they are legitimate competitors to fiat. A person must keep their intentions in the shadows and can't let their secrets see daylight.
The secret society of powerful interests in Britain. I could see this as being true. The British Monarch refused to rescue the Romanovs in 1917. If he had there might have been a stronger motivation to stage a counter-revolution. He allowed them to die. It's believed the Rothschilds financed it. Woodrow Wilson signed into existence the Federal Reserve but he is recorded as saying he regretted it, almost as if he was forced to. There are rumors that President Lincoln, and the two tsars that preceded Nicholas II were assassinated because they refused to submit to the bankers. Unlike a President, a Monarchy won't easily go along or be persuaded to sacrifice their power and turn their back on their people, so the only way a secret society in reality could deal with uncooperative monarchs would be to eliminate them and their heirs, and remove the problem.
The secret society in the show is said to shift how it manipulates the world. First it used religion as a cover to mask their operations, then they used corporations and politics. It's easy to place agents inside religions, corporations, and politics then over time gain control of those institutions. Assuming oil ceased being the dominant energy and people could receive unlimited free energy, that would destroy many of the world's wealthiest corporations, destroy the military-industrial complex, destroy much of fiat currency's power, and destroy many banks who made their fortunes manipulating the oil markets.
However, like all good shows, especially shows that only intelligent people can really understanding it's likely to be cancelled based on low ratings.
