Anyone used airbnb.com?

Post by Banano »

How reliable and safe is it?
Does it work out cheaper then hotels in Thailand /PH/Ukraine/Russia?
i like idea of renting an appartment instead of hotel since you dont have any hassles with bringing anyone, anytime.

You know how some hotels charge extra if you bring a chick back to your room, asking IDs and some wont even let you in unless you bribe security guards even though chick can be regular girll or yr gf. It makes regular women feel uncomfortable especially when reception staff treat her like a hooker, it kinda ruins experience when you go through all bs..besides when you stay in appartment it makes them think you in the area for long stay, it works in your favour and increases chances of getting regular girls

I just used it to book a room in San Francisco. I offered on 4, got rejected on 2, and got accepted by the other 2. Send messages to several instead of booking directly to find out who will accept.

I would only use it for countries and cities where accomadation is difficult and/or expensive. It certainly doesn't make any sense in Thailand I think where there is an abundance of cheap and easy accomodation.

Me, I use to inquire to that site, it is useful. Airfare and lodging rates keep increasing, making travel more and more difficult in a delicate worldwide economy. However, with sharing websites like Airbnb, the lodging costs at least can be significantly reduced, in case you are willing to embrace the non-traditional.

I've used AirBNB several times now and every time it has been a good experience. There are some good deals on there. You can often get a whole apt or house for the same price as a "cheap" room.

Banano,
I don't think that hotels in Thailand would give you a hard time about bringing a girl back to your room. If that's the normal thing that people do there, then it shouldn't be a problem. But ask Rock or Repatriate about it.

So don't use Airbnb for that. Besides, how do you know whether your host at Airbnb would be ok with you bringing hookers or freelancers back to your place in their house? What if the host is a Western Woman? lol

Airbnb and Travelmob are useful in some countries. In others, they seem redundant. If you wanna stay in Thailand and bring multiple girls back to your room, definitely go with a hotel. That is not part of Airbnb culture unless maybe you rent the whole place instead of staying with host.

A high percentage of hotels in Bangkok, Pattaya, and elsewhere in Thailand allow free multiple guests. A lot will check and even copy the girl's ID but that is for your safety. What's wrong with that?

They ask or ID for YOUR safety. If the girl robs you they can track down who she is.

Sites like Airbnb competes against established hotels and apartment business, which brings in a lot of tax revenue. Various cities around the world have started cracking down on airbnb style rentals:
