USA a land of opportunity- think again with this article

Post by ph »

Here is a article that proves that USA isn't the land of opportunity as the media and even history textbooks make out to be.

http://money.cnn.com/2013/12/09/news/ec ... -mobility/

In theory, its possible to go from poor to rich in USA. In reality, this shows otherwise.

Go look at the FED bailout sheet at Bernie Sanders website and you can see who decides who becomes and stays rich.

Studies like this have shown that the upward mobility rate for those born in the US has not changed over the past 2 decades. Of 100 men who were born into poverty in the US, 58 will climb out of poverty and 42 will stay in poverty as adults. However these stats represent those who were born and raised in the US and does not necessarily include many 1st and 1.5 gen immigrants that have higher upward economic mobility rates (varies by country of origin).

As a nation of immigrants, we import people from abroad who are hungrier for success & are willing to work harder for less. Consider the cheaper Hispanic labor that displaced Blacks who formally held the blue-collar positions. On the flip side, the Mexicans were here first and the blacks (and whites) are the immigrants that displaced the Hispanics in the last century.

As a 1.5 gen immigrant from Taiwan, the American Government is under no obligation to protect my family's economic status. If I or my descendants (in the future) were to slack off, I expect the government to import labor from India or another country to replace me.

The difference between you and many others who strive to succeed, is that others will work hard and succeed no matter what we use for currency. Frankly, I don't care if we use the dollar, paper money, copper coins, sea shells, fish oil, or sheep as currency. If dollar is the currency, then I will strive to make a lot of it. If sheep is the common currency, then I'd strive to own a large herd. I would not waste time ranting about how the dollar is a fiat currency or how the sheep smells bad on the internet.

It proves no such thing.

Holy shit, if some of you underachievers would spend as much time and effort on work as you do on rationalizing your shortcomings you would be millionaires.

Please tell me that you are a paid troll. That you could possibly be serious, that you could be so sycophantic to such an auto-genocidal system that you could blame the victims for their own victimization one by one, that you could be proud to whore out your daughter to the system, that you could convince yourself that anyone trying to stop this trainwreck is just a loser - that is just too horrible to contemplate. The very existence of people like you would be like something you would need to use drugs to have nightmares about. You are a paid troll, right?

Ah, yes. Because someone can succeed in the US where you have failed, in the areas of career, money and women...I must be a troll. Because you have proven that it can't be done.

You are the perfect example of what I am talking about, cornhole. You can't win in any area of life, therefore life is wrong. It is the fault of everyone else, but not you, right?

"Stop this trainwreck"? Please tell me what you have done to stop this trainwreck. Bitching with the other losers on an obscure website does not count. The fact is that you don't do shit. You have not and will not in the future. You lack the intelligence, strength, confidence, and money to have an impact on any system. Hell, you can't even unfuck your insignificant life.

No, like I said, I hope you are a troll. As it seems, you are just scum. And the only card scum like you have to play is to say that the people you victimize deserve it somehow. How long do you think that is going to last?

Earlier in the week I was about to post a long thread regarding the "Myth of Opportunity" mainly targeted for my generation (90s and the one directly after mine) and especially in the West. This is shortened version because every time I get started on this subject I can easily write ten pages and keep on going.

There is no opportunity for people in my generation. You play by the rules, you lose. Remember the saying people always say "Life isn't fair." Well, I now completely realize that is the truth. However, that has also changed my outlook. What's the point in playing fair if life isn't fair? Most people MUST break the rules, do morally grey things, or even totally illegal things to get ahead.

A perfect example of what I mean by a regular person doing whatever it takes would be Al Capone. He was the son of first generation immigrants. He had no opportunity in America. Italians faced discrimination in America during that era. He wasn't going to stay poor. He wasn't going to tolerate being kept at the bottom. He wanted to be great so he did things so he could become great. This is what I call a man willing to do whatever it took and not give up. If he decided to follow the rules then that would be a guaranteed defeat which is just like giving up, while doing whatever it takes is perseverance and willing to overcome despair. He couldn't become the president, a senator, a CEO, a famous movie star or singer, or a wealthy skilled inventor. He couldn't compete with the established businesses. What was he to do? Be a nobody? Be satisfied with being a common slave or an indentured servant? NO! He did "whatever it took" and he made something of himself.

The point is you do not have to work when you can get a bailout from the FED! our rulers do not work they counterfeit money and enslave everybody else through debt they create.

They can bankrupt anybody at a whim. People are stupid.

This is actually one of the best eras to get wealthy or rich, despite the fact that we use toxic fiat currency.

The US is a land of 'greater' opportunity in relative terms as compared to other countries from which immigrants came. To see which countries is it better than in terms of opportunities, you just look at those groups who come. Latin Americans and Asians are coming now because there are higher salaries here and also opportunities to go to school and get a degree that are not as available in the places where they came from.

There are also lots of jobs for people with certain skills.

There's no way I could get the diplomas that I have now back in the Ole' Country and no way I could live the international life I'm living now was it not for America. Same with a lot of people. However, people should not overestimate the opportunities of the USA. Not every opportunity is available for everybody and not in the same degree if it is. In other words, as with anything, do not be an absolutist, be a relativist.

So, the US does not claim to be the only land of opportunity and not of every opportunity for everybody. But it beats a lot of countries where things are far worse. Discrimination in the US is still bad, but there are laws now which were not around in the times of Al Capone. They did not eliminate discrimination, but significantly reduced it, at least at work place, housing and in schools. In a lot of other countries, either there are no laws or they are much less enforceable.

Now, the opportunities in question here are always of practical nature- jobs, degrees, businesses, money. The US does not claim to be the land of social and romantic opportunities. But the US passport affords travel for the latter. Works for me.
Of 100 men who were born into poverty in the US, 58 will climb out of poverty and 42 will stay in poverty as adults.
Ah, but what are they doing, these 42 people? Are they at school studying for some in demand degree? Are they getting an ESL diploma to go and work in Saudi Arabia? One needs to see how those 42 have been living and what they have been doing to get ahead.

When these guy's get done they decide who gets rich and who starves, over time with this system all the public power systems are captured and privatized by the creditors. They set the system up to try and dupe you to believe your power centers are still functioning as a public entity. THEY ARE NOT!

Forget about tying to get rich that is what they want, the harder you work the more they will strip you of the fruits of your labor. They are creating a world wide cast system like in England. They let America have free reign for a while because our economy was creating the modern world. Just look at how many patents were issued here compared to the rest of the world over the last 100 years. Now look how many we are issuing, America is dead in the water ready to collapse! It is being held afloat by a financial mirage called socialism and all this mirage is doing is making the coming die off bigger.

They decide who makes it and who doesn't by issuing the purchasing where they want. The whole planet is dying and we should be creating a system now to stop the mass extinction.
