All right, after some talk, I've gotten Melissa, my lesbian ex-classmate, see thread below for details, to present her p.o.v. to this group.

Hello,

I'm ( Melissa ) a hilarious pseudonym, and yeah, I'm a butch lesbian.

I'm hearing that there's an American woman hating site, with many of the members eye-ing for an exit strategy out of the country, for better women abroad.

As an American lesbian, let me tell you, many of you are correct. Today's American women are not worth dating.

And S_Parc is wrong, I don't look like Helen Hunt, though sure, I'm a dirty blond but let's leave it at that.

One of my pet peeves on the whole American woman thing is that today's gals, don't take ownership of their problems. For them, there's always some concocted rationalization for their problems. I'm sure S_Parc told you about his neurotic sister. Unfortunately, I've dated some of those in my sordid history. Trust me, it's no fun.

S_Parc and I went to college together. That was a long time ago and let me tell you, this guy's got his act together and in almost every way.

In contrast, every time I meet up with a new potential, it's always a bust. Women don't have their act together and expect that us guys, yeah I'm referencing myself in that innuendo, will make things right for them.

Over time, it's gotten old. I'm tired of the issues, inconsolable rages/fits, and all that jazz associated with being involved with women.

So what's happening here in a nutshell is I'm tired of the half-truths and lies. I've gone cold turkey in terms of dating.

And then, when I spend time with S_Parc and we do our stuff together, I feel live and renewed again. He's my loyal friend and in many ways, the best person I'd ever known. Ok, I know that that's stoked his ego but whatever, I'm being honest here.

In closing, my message is to be true to yourself and don't give in to the idea that living a life of quite desperation is the way to be, just because people around you live that way. Be who you really are.

As for the social isolation, the LGB associations make that less apparent to her. She thinks that us heteros are miserable by default and yes, it's society's fault.

And she's 100% on women being spoiled, however, by nature, Melissa is masculine and thus, 'other females seem to contraindicate her own nature'. In Mel's mind, masculinity has an organizational, executive quality but AWs seem to lack that in their habits, despite pretenses of leadership.

The toxic competitive environment is why Mel works at an 75% male engineering environment, as a salesperson. The worst companies are those where men are a minority. If anything, the toxicity is a result, not of male competition, as men's competition is rather healthy, but a type of seething hatred, which women harbor towards one another and towards other men.

As for costs, it's all true, however, both of us being high earners without family, make it a lot more bearable. In Rhode Island, her home state, unemployment and underemployment is a lot higher than in greater Boston MA and it's been a reason why many families fall apart.

She loves J Krishnamurti and follows a type of guruless path, unless I'm the guru , in this case. Ok, that was me, patting myself on the back.

As for acceptance, here vs there, in her mind, in America, we hop from one island to another. For instance, in Provincetown, the openly gay community in MA, ppl welcome us with open arms. In other towns, we're welcomed because ppl assume that we're a happy couple in love. And yeah, it's a hoot but so what, it's nice to feel like we're in some Old England town than in New England, with everyone wanting to be like Boston, Amherst, Cambridge, or what have you. And then, everywhere else, we're in silent running, with little contact with the outside world.

As for govt, police state, etc, that's the effect of the post-WWII society, where the Cold War has permeated our lives. In Rhode Island, the Navy is one of the major employers and has indelibly, made its mark on everyone's way of life. Eventually, ppl accept that * security is good * and so scandalous events, like NSA snooping, etc, don't have an effect on ppl's consciousness. I'd imagine that ppl growing up between DC and Baltimore, having more than half their bills paid by the NSA payroll, probably have a similar bias towards a surveillance state as those in Rhode Island, also benefiting from the military payroll.

And at the same time, there's a major cognitive dissonance going on. One of the bi's that Mel had worked with earlier, expressed a type of disgust towards some of the scandals in Iraq and Mel called BS on her. The reason why this happened was because that scandal was on TV, and this bi was traveling on business abroad and was embarrassed by the public discussions on the matter. You see, the truth is that the ugliness should simply be buried, with the attitude being, keep us safe and keep us employed. That's the American way.

I just want to thank Mel for the insight and coming here to chat to us. I wonder if she ever considered her self a tom boy type ? ( possibly a silly question ) im interested in this phenomena , it was a very interesting interview I did a few years ago with a high class escort, a 20's something half polish half Italian girl.. very attractive and really a lot of fun.

She did grow up in a naval household so in effect, being tomboy-ish is kinda a part of that subculture, as keeping in shape and being organized is a part of her upbringing.

With that said, I think she knows how to blend both masculine & feminine aspects into a persona which sort of doesn't give away being a tom boy. Thus, instead of let's say fixing cars and such, she's into antique furnishings and is just as excited about their geometry and construction, as well as their aesthetics and historic significance. Most women who're into collectables, only consider the latter aspects.

Her vibe is not too different from the video above of Kay Hanley but clearly, in any Martial Arts sparring, Mel could pulverize Kay w/o a question. Yeah, she's that strong and even gave me a nasty bruise a few weeks ago, when we did some one on one. Apparently, after customizing some of my own workout routines, her inner monster has come alive.
