Detectives were searching on Wednesday for a 25-year-old man in connection with a series of attacks on Asian women in Manhattan over the last week.

Relatives of the man, who was identified by friends and associates as Tyrelle D. Shaw, contacted the police after seeing surveillance video released after the most recent attack on Monday, according to a law enforcement official who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the investigation was continuing.

Mr. Shaw’s friends and relatives became increasingly concerned after a post appeared on his blog describing his infatuation with Asian women, claiming a connection to the crimes and outlining his intention to end his life.

“I never wanted to reach the conclusion that Asian women would never take me serious, because of the color of my skin,” read the post attributed to Mr. Shaw, who is black. “Inform N.Y.P.D. they could stop searching for me because I’m going to commit suicide.”

The police were aware of the post and had followed up on some of the specific locations mentioned, the official said. As of late Wednesday, Mr. Shaw, an artist who has posted about creating bow ties out of unconventional materials, had yet to be found.

“He’s not known to be living anywhere,” the official said, adding that detectives were working to piece together family connections to determine where Mr. Shaw could be.

The attacks, which are being investigated as possible hate crimes, began last Wednesday when a man struck a 35-year-old woman in the face with a hard object in a plastic bag outside 155 Grand Street in Chinatown, after she rebuffed his attempts to talk with her, the police said.

Roughly four hours later, a man struck a 29-year-old woman in the face with a white plastic bag that contained a hard object while she stood on the corner of East 30th Street and Park Avenue South, the police said.

On Friday, a third woman, walking near 60th Street and Second Avenue around 12:25 a.m., was attacked by a man swinging a hard object in a white plastic bag, the police said.

“All Asian girls don’t talk to me,” the man said, according to the police, just before hitting her.

The most recent attack occurred on Monday around 4 p.m. at the Paragon II Cleaners on Mulberry Street in Chinatown. A man pressed his smartphone to the glass storefront, drawing the attention of a 41-year-old woman working at the counter and a seamstress. The phone bore a vulgar message in Chinese about women.

The woman at the counter told the man to leave, the seamstress later recalled. The man left, but returned about 20 minutes later carrying a plastic bag and entered the dry-cleaning shop.

As the woman at the counter escorted him outside, the police said, he struck her in the face and fled.

I can't help but notice his view that he felt rejected mostly from Asian women and doesn't understand why he see so many Asian women with white men? I'm actually surprise a black man is doing this and not a bitter asian man.

I’ve been rejected by Women my entire life. I never understood why, but whenever I stopped to woo- I always ended up getting the same excuse every single time. Sorry I have a Boyfriend or Sorry I’m in a rush. Some Women even ignored me completely. It got really bad. This weekend I decided to talk to over 150 Asian Women, which ended horribly. I had to punch a White dude in the mouth for kicking me. I followed two asian girls around SoHo just to see why they’re lives are ten times more important than a Black Mans in America. Unfortunately that didn’t end well. By the end of the night I really decided to fight my battle using violence. Humans don’t understand me. I see tons of Asian Women walking around with White Men and I never understood how they even made it on a date, if I’m trying so hard just to get one number. I’ve been rejected so much I feel absolutely numb. Tonight was the night I realized that Humans found racism popular. Now the whole World Hates me because I’m African American.

Around 8PM. I realized that I would have to use violence in order get the response that I desire. By starting an independent civil war where I will hit over a million Asian Women in the face with a stick will change history. I understand that Asian Women are afraid of African American Men and most of the time they never even touched the skin of a Black Man. I have no choice, but to react this way. Everyday people hurt my feelings and its not fair. Truthfully, I feel so much better after hitting an asian Woman in the face with a steel rod. It was the greatest achievement of my life. While I was in Canada the same thing was happening to me. Asian Women all over the city would reject me. I’m going to talk to a few more Asian Women, before I start my strategic plan of using violence instead of sex and peace in order to continue living my horrible life.
Heres my plan:

Every Asian Woman by herself must be hit in the face. I may even take a photo before hitting them. The reason is because I don’t think Asian Women like me and that specific one or two or three may have never met me. So I think its brilliant to give all Asian Women a legitimate reason to hate me.

In some ways I can relate with this guy. I remember growing up seeing many Asian girls with white guys and I felt rejected...I also thought about violence.

I also thought about attacking an asian girl with a white guy couple..that's why I'm surprise a black man feels this way.

I mean it is true that within the Asian American community there is racism towards black people but if your an Asian guy who gets rejected by Asian girls its allot more personally. However, with me I found different outlets to let my aggression go and at the same time over time I was able to date local girls and now that I'm married I realize it can be overcome.

In some ways I think this guy is messed up but at the same time I feel for him.

He wants something but what he wants has no interest in him. My experience with white women is the same. So I can relate to his anger. I'm either invisible or looked at with scorn. There may not be a solution for anyone in such a predicament. He should of tested asian women in asia first. There's the possibility that the type of person he physically wants will respond differently in different countries. I just saw a video here or somewhere the other day about Japanese girls copying thug ghetto culture.

I think some people like to blame race. It's how they protect their self esteem. Realizing the problem has something to do with them on an individual level could be devastating.

In some ways I think this guy is messed up but at the same time I feel for him.

This is a case for the psychiatrist and the police. He is dangerous.
He has to learn first of all that violence cannot be a solution for his personal problems.

I wonder however why he is into dating only Asian women and not into dating within his own race.

For sure in USA only a small portion of its population is Asian and it is concentrated only to a few cities, mainly along the West Coast.

Simply said, if you want to meet a large number of Asian girls, you have to get on an airplane direction Asia - no other way around that.

It wasn't because he's black he doesn't get asian women, it's most likely he came off as very creepy and has issues. On the other hand though, if he's looking to get at the fobby asians with traditional values they tend to date within their own ethnicity.

Yes, racism exists everywhere, but if you have loose marbles and think Asian women are rejecting you because they're snorting coke, and if you smash their noses they'd be unable to snort coke and will date you, I don't think you're going to be successful elsewhere.

That is inaccurate and also because you've tend to have met bitter angry asian guys you have "confirmation bias". That's like me going into an upper class European social circle and asking what they think about black men no offense.

Yes I'm Asian, and if "nobody wants an Asian man" then that doesn't explain Asian American men's high marriage rate.

I'm not disputing that Asian men face discrimination, but I also think if the guys who rant on the internet daily would use that time and energy in the gym, they might get better returns.
