I hate to tell you the truth and sound negative in the process but here it is. Many people (maybe most people) do not want you to be happy. This is not just the case on HA or just within Western feminist society. It's pretty much universal.travelsouth wrote:
My 2 cents... there are too many "experts" doing nothing but ragging on these forums. At least offline I can better filter associations. Let's leave feminism aside. You post what you consider to be positive news on a forum and only one person has the social skills to respond appropriately. That's a pretty intense thought.
I spent most of my life scratching by in a lower middle class living. Like most Americans we needed 2 incomes to get by and have a little bit extra. Post divorce, at the youthful age of 54, I finally got a good job with many of the associated perks. Tripled my income. You think everyone was happy for me? Nope. OK, my ex was happy - she asked for 4x the child support
I began to travel more. A few friends and family members were happy for me; just as many were jealous or wondered why I would waste my money on such foolishness.
I began traveling to the Philippines, met girls and eventually married one of them. Think everyone was jumping up and down for joy at the happiness I had finally obtained at the age of 60? Um, not quite lol. I got some looks and a few remarks. Even here on HA.
But here's the thing. You're never going to be happy based on what other people think of you. Choose your own path, explain it to people but expect nothing back. A few will root for you, many will not. Stick to those who root for you.
And BTW, I'm rooting for you. I hope you two have a great relationship!
