Was Jesus Tribal? Matthew 15: 21-28
==============================
[21] When Jesus left there, He withdrew to the area of Tyre and Sidon. [22] Just then a Canaanite woman from that region came and kept crying out, “Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David! My daughter is cruelly tormented by a demon.”
[23] Yet He did not say a word to her. So His disciples approached Him and urged Him, “Send her away because she cries out after us.”
[24] He replied, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
[25] But she came, knelt before Him, and said, “Lord, help me!”
[26] He answered, “It isn’t right to take the children’s bread and throw it to their dogs.”
[27] “Yes, Lord,” she said, “yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table!”
[28] Then Jesus replied to her, “Woman, your faith is great. Let it be done for you as you want.” And from that moment her daughter was cured.

IT would help if you would post the number of the chapter along with the numbers for the verses. Which chapter in Matthew is this supposed to be from? Was Jesus tribal? No. Don't be ridiculous.

Re: Was Jesus Tribal? Matthew 21-28
Which bible translation is that? And whats your point? Yes there are verses that say that Jesus only came to save the Jews, not gentiles. It was st. Paul who tried to bring gentiles into Christianity. Wheres that verse that says something like, "Jesus came to save HIS people"?

NO!
Jesus was not Tribal.
Matthew 28:
Then Jesus replied to her, “Woman, your faith is great. Let it be done for you as you want.” And from that moment her daughter was cured.
Jesus cured the girl of a different tribe. Proving with actions that he is not Tribal.
ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS
Most women say they want a nice guy. Whereas most women will mate with the asshole (no matter the profession) or criminal.
Look as women's actions and her heart to know if she will be a Moral Wife and wife material.

Since no one bothered to cite that verse, here it is:
Matthew 1:21
New International Version (NIV)
21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus,[a] because he will save his people from their sins.”
As you can see, it says HIS people, not the world. What does that mean? It all depends on which verse and book you listen to. The bible is not consistent. Paul and Jesus taught different things, for example, as shown in other threads.

The only Bible in English is the KJV. Anything else is just a distortion of God's Word.drealm wrote:Holman Christian Stardard Bible (HCSB)Winston wrote:Which bible translation is that?

Re: Was Jesus Tribal? Matthew 21-28
You mean the Bible manuscripts in Hebrew or Latin? Well most people can't read them. But logically, the earliest versions like the KJV should be the most accurate. The newer and popular New International Version and New American Standard Version have changed many verses and altered the meaning of them. That's a whole another topic though. You can google "KJV vs NIV" if you want to read more about that issue.Ghost wrote:Why? Wouldn't it make more sense that the first version recorded in the first language would be the most accurate?Adama wrote:The only Bible in English is the KJV. However, even the earliest Bible manuscripts we have are not consistent. There are different versions of them with different verses. For example, some manuscripts of the NT do not include the last chapter of Mark that preaches salvation through Christ, and others do. So many scholars believe that that chapter was added and wasn't in the original version of Mark.
You see, Matthew, Mark and Luke teach a simple salvation by works and love message. But the Gospel of John teaches that salvation requires the belief that "Jesus died for your sins" in order to be saved, aka the doctrine of atonement. So the first 3 gospels teach a different salvation than the last gospel, John, which is the most cited by Christians because their theology is based on it. So they added that last chapter in Mark to try to make it look like it taught the gospel of atonement, otherwise the gospels would be inconsistent on the doctrine of salvation.

Re: Was Jesus Tribal? Matthew 15: 21-28
Not yet. I have it on my shelf and maybe my Kindle. But haven't gotten around to reading it yet. I've seen documentaries about it though. Yeah, it's possible that the historical Jesus taught reincarnation and other Eastern teachings, but that was suppressed by the Catholic or Christian church because they want people to believe that they have all the power over their souls, and not some system of reincarnation. The Catholic Church likes to centralize power, not give power to the individual of course. This is also why the early Christian Gnostic sects were persecuted and suppressed too.Ghost wrote:Have you ever read any of the apocryphal books Winston? I've only read the Gospel of Thomas, and it was quite...different. I can see why they didn't include it. (Jesus appears to refer to reincarnation or something similar in the book.) There are so many mysteries religion is engulfed in. I find it fascinating and would love to know the truth, but most discussions get hung on on doctrine, instantly dismissing any real questions about anything.
You should read "The Book of Enoch" too. Zboy told me its fascinating and mind blowing, and may contain truths about angels and higher entities that the church doesn't want you to know about.

Re: Was Jesus Tribal? Matthew 15: 21-28
In the Old Testament, KJV transalates the hebrew "torah" as "law". This is completely wrong. It means teaching, and HCSB translates it as "instruction" which is reasonable. I just looked up this one example because I know that this is a common area of confusion for Christians.

You need to read versions that did not make gender changes, Mother is the creator of the bible.
