Any of us here like that? And look at the smiling Russian girls on the right- they want a guy from the list above like yesterday.
Hey look who is talking! A Brit? He just described Brits. Morose!Their ... demeanour is invariably morose, sullen, clownish and repulsive. I should think there is not, on the face of the earth, a people so entirely destitute of humour, vivacity, or the capacity of enjoyment. — Charles Dickens

While I certainly have my gripes about America - sheesh! Come on now!
Oh how easily the rest of world forgets the actual good things America has contributed to societies.
(Before people flame, I'm well aware of the bad as well )
As people continue to take daily advantage of the inventions, creations, engineering of American contributions, enjoy some of the better older music and films, that have helped progress and carry along their societies, they turn around and spit on America and Americans. Hypocritical.
Again, there is much I disagree about America (a good deal to do with the distorted gov., unjust wars, twisted media, awful movements such as feminism, junk foods, etc.), but can't people at least keep in mind the good America has contributed.

Whenever I get down about where America is headed, I like to remind myself the sheer percentage of Nobel Prizes that have been won by Americans over the years, in comparison to other countries, especially given our small population. American schools may be "dumbed down" compared to just 20 years ago, but I feel Americans by nature also don't feel the need to flaunt their brains, when they do have them. Yes, things are changing, and I long for the better days of the past, but I try to stay optimistic.

What, none from Tocqueville? I've got a nice collection of them. A few paraphrased off top of head:
Americans are the least philosophical people.
There is less free speech in America than in any other civilized country.
They are always looking for some tiny distinction they might claim, so as to assume a perch of superiority from which to look down upon their neighbors.
As for all the American technological accomplishment of days gone by -- well, yes, but our thing has always been bringing products to market, not the theory behind the technology. The thinking part always gets done in Germany or someplace outside the U.S., then we figure out a way to make a lot of money mass-marketing it. And of course, now we don't produce anything but insanely wealthy banksters.
As for Nobel prizes -- those are often rather fraudulent and awarded for political reasons. Barack Obama, who has expanded a pointless war, got a Nobel peace prize -- a PEACE PRIZE, for crying out loud -- simply for giving the Europeans a little bit of his usual hot air rhetoric, unsupported by his actual policies, about multi-lateralism. Wonder how the Europeans felt after he came to Oslo and gave an acceptance speech straight from the GW Bush neocon tool kit, proclaiming war is peace and a Manichean struggle of pure good versus pure evil.
Random observations: Wonder if Ezra Pound pronounced the U.S. an insane asylum before or after being incarcerated in one in Washington D.C. Very interesting to read above that a study shows 75 percent of young American women don't have traditional libidinous feelings, but rather get their jollies in such things as narcissistic exhibitionism. I've been developing a similar hypothesis from personal experience. These women don't really want an intimate relationship with an attractive male; they want something else altogether, and whatever it is, it's really perverse, the reflection of a very sick society. That's why all the laments on this site about the impossibly high standards of American women don't ring true. Believe me, the guys who can check all their boxes are having the same problems with them. They are just a different breed now.

I think generally this site is about dating abroad for mostly American men. And American men are admired for many qualities such as:
Let's start with some positive things:
1)
2)
3)
4)
etc.
See the smiling Russian ladies to your right- on the margin? They are looking for Americans. Have they not been reading the quotes?

Nope
Really? No, 99% of them never heard anything bad about Americans besides general "Americans are stupid" and "Americans are fat". Both of these are actually true, but the meaning of "stupid" is varied and too generalized. Fat - I think we all know that US has too many obese people.See the smiling Russian ladies to your right- on the margin? They are looking for Americans. Have they not been reading the quotes?
However, my biggest dream of my life is actually to make National News in Russia and Ukraine and read these quotes, so the girls actually think of these things and how they are wasting their life by moving into a nation of Fast Food and endless loans, credits, payments, bankruptcies and constant consumption. Girls have no idea that no one has "real friends", no one really knows their neighbors and school education is pretty bad (Universities are pretty good, but loans will kill your life after you graduate). There is ABSOLUTELY no reason for people to seek happiness in the USA unless they are castrated, not sexually-able to perform, complete loners or complete selfish ego-maniacs, who love being only alone and enjoy their iPods and Cadillacs.
However, as we know, people are social creatures and most of Americans end up somewhere as the characters of "Fight Club" - you wish to blow up you so-loved house and just freakin' cry on someone's shoulder.
I am not saying any English speaking country is better, but I would definitely advise people to move to Canada rather than United States. In general, Europe seems to absolutely the best place to live and have a family. I visited Finland, Poland, France and lived in Ukraine. Yes, Ukraine is poor and unstable, but other countries, including Poland, are doing great. Most of the problems that I see in America don't exist in Europe - obese people, bad food, stupidity, "life in a bubble", absence of love, absence of friends, absence of close families etc - Europe has much less or none of these problems. With EU citizenship you can live in two dozen countries and work where you like. Education is free or very cheap, healthcare is free or cheap, food is great, people are great... Going to America? To work your ass off and then spend all this money on doctor's bills? Work your ass off and have no personal life? Work your ass off and have miserable 2 weeks of vacation per year? In the best case, work your ass off, stay healthy (which is tough with bad food in the USA), make BIG money, buy a huge expensive house in Fort Lauderdale, FL, drive a convertible, look good..... BUT STILL BE LONELY and dateless for years!!! WTF? It's not worth it. I like those quotes on top, totally true.
My Russian lady friend commented to me that she thought many American men were very arrogant and lacking in intelligence or character depth.
On the flip side however, she also said that she feels it's easier to meet an open-minded and tenderhearted American man than a Russian man with similar traits.

Re: Nope
So, why are they smiling sheepeshly and posing in all these sexy outfits? To get a Canadian? Or a European? Also, I don't think this is what they think of Americans. They may have heard that Americans are stupid but may have dismissed it as jealousy.Really? They think Tom Cruise. They think Bruce Willis/Silvester Stallone. They think guys like these:

This is who they are hoping to net:

THIS is the American they know and see on TV:

None of these are obese. And there are plenty of guys who are non obese in the US who will reply to the ladies' ads.
But how do they treat immigrants in the EU? I have heard the French really hate foreigners and so do many of the people in the countries you have mentioned. Sure, it is good to live there( for the locals) but how do they treat outsiders? Americans are also prejudiced but if you try to assimilate and look and sound like the majority, you have a chance of being accepted, but not in all these indigenous Euro countries. And Russians are not liked in Europe at all. Maybe these ladies will be treated like subhumans there.I am not saying any English speaking country is better, but I would definitely advise people to move to Canada rather than United States. Canada is good, though.
Oh, but that does not go for ladies. A man will be dateless, not a woman. A man will be treated like shit, not the girls.make BIG money, buy a huge expensive house in Fort Lauderdale, FL, drive a convertible, look good..... BUT STILL BE LONELY and dateless for years!!! Hell no You should correct this by saying: Girls will be offered sex, but not love. That's what happens with girls who date American guys. Once they arrive to America, they go nuts - so many sporty good looking guys. But after a few years they lean back more and more - towards immigrant Russian guys. After 5-6 years they just "give up" on guys or just get laid with whoever goes their way cuz they just become a mess and don't even understand WTF is going on because there is no love in America, but it just CAN'T be true because all the Hollywood movies show love... But there is none Oh those naive Eastern European girls They go through hell upon adjusting to life in the USA. The only ones that survive become Americanized - they become bitchy, selfish, go to the gym and try to catch a rich guy in America. When they do, they still find no happiness. Another type of girls that thinks she is happy - are those that were living in a shit hole back in Russia-Ukraine. When they get to drive a car and live in a nice house with any guy - they think it is Heaven on Earth. However, in 3-5 years they get mentally disturbed because their husband prefers to jerk off to porn instead of having sex or his equipment just does not work. I f*cked a few Russian girls who were married to American men, they were different ages (oldest one was a hot 42-year blonde and I was 20, lol). But the reason was the same - their husbands are just not sexually performing or not even interested in sex. When they hit the bars, guys there are low and retarded and cheating is hard anywayOh, but that does not go for ladies. A man will be dateless, not a woman. A man will be treated like shit, not the girls.
I know thousands of examples, I know way too many immigrant or mixed families in many states across the US. Almost no one is happy, divorce rate is huge even between immigrant families because upon arrival to the USA family life becomes extremely tough in the society that has no friendship and no interest in life besides money.
Wow, with quotes like those, why bother leaving the country? Man, everyone hates us. But I've come across foreigners who've lived in this country for many years and love it. Anyway, "where you go, there you are."
I agree with Ladislav about the Dickens quotes. Definitely sounds like some projection going on. Especially in the time period Dickens lived.

Actually most of the world adores Americans.Wow, with quotes like those, why bother leaving the country? Man, everyone hates us.
Well, the ones that love it here, stay here. The ones that do not like it, go. Sooner or later. That is why some 150,000 a year leave. But I've come across foreigners who've lived in this country for many years and love it. Anyway, "where you go, there you are."
So, of course, the ones you met love it. It is the same in any other country with any foreigner/immigrant. If he/she stays there for many years it is because he/she likes it for some reason. Americans who live in Kuwait for many years are there because the pluses outweigh the minuses. Long vacations, tax free salaries, proximity to Europe.
And of course no foreigner/immigrant would in his right mind say to a native anywhere that he/she 'does not like it'. He/she does not want an angry reaction of the type- "well, if you don't like it, get your a## out and don't let the door slam you on the way". All the grumbles are reserved for people of the same immigrant tribe and in whisper behind close doors.
Same with Americans overseas. No American living in Saudi would tell a Saudi Arab that 'he does not like it in Saudi'. You'd have a very violent reaction. Those who did would likely be deported with no release letters and then blacklisted.
Most Americans are fairly patriotic and do not take kindly to any negative remarks. Immigrants/foreigners know that and keep their mouths shut or only say good things.
Yeah, no one is more morose than a Brit. Well, maybe the Japanese are a bit more. But a Brit calling Americans morose. That is outrageous!I agree with Ladislav about the Dickens quotes. Definitely sounds like some projection going on. Especially in the time period Dickens lived.
Physically, yes. And true in other respects if you move within the same culture. As far as the reaction of people to you and your societal position and your dating opportunities when you change countries, absolutely not! These immediately start changing when you move to another culture.wherever you go, there you are.
