Getting such jobs would be just like getting other whorporate jobs. If people were in a position to do this the issue would likely never arise. Also, most Western NGOs are the scum of the Earth spreading the cancer of political correctness to other societies.

Though I agree to an extent about NGOs, its still a career. Regardless of your personal views of NGOs or non-profits, opportunities still are available for those that don't share your beliefs. Also if your purpose is world travel and making a good income, it shouldn't matter the inner politics. You won't change the world anyway, just do your best to keep your job.

Like I said my advice was not for those with life experience 30+ but for those teens and early 20 somethings that are looking for possible ways of living and working overseas and can start young.
Example
18-22: College
22-26: Work and save big
26-30: Grad School + volunteer/intern

There are ways to pay for college and not get killed with student loans (grants, scholarships, assistantships) or volunteer through peace corps or Americorps (what I do) and they provide you with a decent education bonus each year and other perks. If you want it you can get it. Of course this isn't clear cut, nothing is, but still a solid path. Its better than spending years on this forum trying to figure out ways of making passive income that will barely get you out of poverty.

What is your business? I'm not an online marketing or business type of guy. I like more structure but I am curious as to what you do and your credentials.

im vague cause its legally questionable and very risky and it has low competition. In general making money online passively like i do is very hard and i didn't have much success after google changed its algorithm in 2011 using my old techniques. Now its not an easy science. even if you knew what i did very few could make this kind of money cause i been making money online for years and only recently learned how to utilize this nniche to this level by following one guy who i noticed was using some techniqe. in few years i could ddrop to nothing if certain things happen so im trying to captilize it while i have the opportunity so even while im in phil im working everyday not getting overly confident. I have no work experience or skills in the real world so i have to bust my ass while the money is good.

The U.S offers opportunities with the Embassies, NGOs like World Bank and U.N., or non-profits like World Vision, WWF, as well as international corporations like IBM and Apple. If you are a younger guy with a degree like myself why not grind it out for a few years at an average but relevant job and a part time gig. Making 35k a year you could easily save 10-15k a year and a part time job saving 3-6k a year. In 4-6 years time you could save 40-80k. Take that income go to grad school and/or travel to the country of your choice and volunteer or intern with a company of your choosing. Make connections and gain experience. By the time you are 30 or early 30's you could be living overseas with a nice steady income and good benefits. By the time you are late 40's or 50's you could probably retire with a nice pension.

ADB starts junior analysts (32 and below) out at 70K USD a year living in Manila with housing assistance, 2 free plane tickets home a year, good pension and health care, and a few other great benefits. Of course your resume needs to stand out but its not impossible with hard work and dedication and there are other companies doing this to. I've heard of companies like IMB sending employees over to Manila for stints of 6months to even years and putting them up in apartment complexes and nice hotels like The Pennisula and Shangri La.

Of course it takes education, hard work, and maybe a little bit of luck but definitely possible. Probably a little easier and more secure than gambling with the real estate market. At least you will have an education and work experience to fall back on if it doesn't go that well. I know several people who have done similar things. For those older this might not help but for younger guys in teens to mid 20's its definitely possible.
Yep, I'm in my mid-twenties and just started an internship with a branch of the government in one South American nation researching and experimenting with new crop species. I'm somewhat of a specialist, and have some relevant work experience, yet I don't even have a relevant Bachelors degree in the field, just a relevant Associates degree. According to my supervisor this could definitely turn into a decent, paid, research assistant position by the end of the year. All that for just making a few contacts and following up with them at an opportune moment.

There is one thing to be said about working abroad if your first language is English. My coworkers see me as a valuable asset, because most scientific articles are published in English, and thus I am able to help translate and interpret information. That's why they are eager to have me as an intern as opposed to a more "qualified" local. Just try to find some backwater, off-the-beaten path place where hardly anyone bothers to learn English, and position yourself as a specialist in whatever field you have some experience.

After having picked up my first month's measly paycheck from the English language institute, that is exactly what I intend to do. As long as you are fluent in the local language, I think there's a decent shot at finding something other than teaching English.

I like Hammanta's suggestion for working for NGOs as well. The economy of the future is just going to be governments and rich people giving handouts to projects that they deem proactive and practical.

I found some great and interesting books on Amazon about generating passive income so you can quit your job and become financially independent. They only cost a few dollars on Kindle. Some only cost 99 cents. Wow. I posted the titles and links to them here:

Easy. You write it in Microsoft Word or any word processing program. Then you save it in PDF and sell it as an Ebook. If you want to sell on Kindle, Amazon has online tools that will convert it into Kindle format. It's all free. Then you create a sales page on Amazon and fill out some forms and set up payment info and you're set.

That's the easy part. The hard part is writing a good book and then marketing it so it gets exposure. There are guides to help you do that. I listed some above. Or you can pay Amazon for increased distribution channels that may get your book into real life bookstores.

To get a book printed, you can do print on demand for free with Amazon at CreateSpace.com. But Amazon will take most of the profits from it, not you. Otherwise you have to find a publisher, which is hard if you're not established and famous. Or you can invest money into self publishing and printing them out yourself.

Hey Winston, what percentage of your online income is from book sales, advertising, etc etc?

Very little income from ebook sales. Most of it is from advertising sponsorship and affiliate commissions.

Winston: How would I get a site like this one up & running? Not exactly the same, just kind of an open-thought sort of forum & maybe some of that advertising/affiliate commissions to get some income rolling in.

1. Just save a million $,
B. Very hard to do in the USA, have you seen the interest rates banks offer.
My suggestion is to learn how to lnvest in the stock market hopefully you find the next Google.
2.5 years to build your online digital gonad business not counting the time it took to develop those skills. I hate the term passive income, location independent income is a better definition.
B. Think about how much easier it would be to build any businesses in the USA.
The USA is a great place for making and spending money it is far more difficult building social contacts as a foreigner.
3. If is so easy why are not more people doing it. Being realistic about chances of successful online business vs other types of passive incomes or sacrifice vs reward.
B. Most successful digital nomads are tech-savvy, have higher then average IQ's and would have been successful if they went the 9-5 route.
It is still easier doing working and investing domestically for say 15 years then trying to survive in another country.
But are you willing to sacrifice the finer things in life to build that passive income?
4. Classify all the major non-location income type jobs.
Estimate the number of people doing those type of jobs.
The skill set required for each job.
The success/failure ratio over time.
