Pseudo-intellectual American women - Ever meet one?
Have any of you ever met the kind of American women that he talks about below? I date one before. She would act like she thought she was intellectual, but made shallow points that lacked depth, insight or truthfulness. And her tone had arrogance in it.
Quote:
Anyways, as for me, my life changed when I'd stopped seeking women, who were sociopathic and looking for someone to boss around. And yes, I'd been through the tall tales about "Yankee" women being *spiritual*, into Buddhistic or Shamanistic practices, socially enlightened ala Gertrude Stein or Marie Curie, and all kinds of northeast USA cultural claptrap phoniness of the pseudo-elite private colleges. In retrospect, it's nauseating. And believe me, none of 'em published a book worth reading. BTW, this is what's passed off as the creme de la creme of modern American culture esp between cities like NYC, Boston, & DC.
Quote:
My main observations, which others might need to know about, are the intellectual phonies. For those who've attended college or have been in various volunteer organizations, where a lot of American women congregate, there's this major facade of the modern Yankee woman being brilliant & all round feminine and enlightened. I don't know what this is like on the west coast but it's a major theme esp around the university towns and cities in the northeast. In a way, it's used to censor thoughts and deflect any genuine criticisms.
I do believe, however, that back in the 60s & 70s, there might have been a sliver of truth to it, as TV/media women like Mary Tyler Moore & Deborah Harry were in fact intelligent, talented, attractive, and not emotionally repulsive or damaged goods, but it faded really fast into the 80s.

I'd have to say yes the phenomenon he describes is for real. There are a lot of mostly middle class suburban raised white American women who think like this. Just look at the indie sub culture which has created an entire scene around this pseudo-intellectualism. This is where stuff like the "hipster" movement came from as well. You have tweens and early 30 somethings wearing their black framed emo glasses and trendy shirts debating politics and music tastes in coffee shops. They also like to join groups like PETA or other trend of the week activist groups.
I don't necessarily hate on them because most are just superficial trendy windbags and some grow up enough that they do turn some of their recreational "activism" into something worthwhile. Most are content in riding the trend though.

Winston,
They are called charlatans. Excellent word that sums it up without different, interpolating sentences or phrases.

Well there are spiritual New Age wonderful women in America. But the problem is that they tend to be older or overweight (often both). And if they are not, then they are not looking for a date or relationship and prefer to "have time to themselves" on their day off, as they claim.

A pretty girl indulges in her vanity
An ugly girl boasts her personality and intellect
Both are lacking honest labor
Same goes for men.

I have run into my share of them. Usually they like to punctuate their conversations with details about their Masters Degree in "Peace Studies" or some other useless field. Often they are proponents of organic foods but can never articulate exactly why they are more healthy.
Intellectuals are rare today in the US, females rarer still. All it takes is a pin prick of a deeper question to burst their bubble of intellect.

While these type of girls do exist, more common is the girl who does well academically but is seemingly unable to talk about anything at all after about five minutes. I'm always the one who has to carry forward the conversation, with the conversation being punctuated by their inane remarks - "Oh OK", "cool", etc. No wonder conversation between Anglo girls and I becomes awkward quite quickly. These are the same women who are quite capable of then looking down upon me because they think I'm a simpleton, when in fact it is they who have the intellectual depth of a puddle of urine.
Hypocrisy, bigotry and elitism, thy name is Anglo woman.

Amen! Anglo-women are the most phoney, shallow, self-centered and materialistic women on the face of the earth! Here is a great website called, "Anglobitch" it really sums up anglo-women perfectly!
I've met a lot of western women that have the ability to learn something very rapidly but they typically have no interest in the subject matter. There brains are like a computer hard drive. They remember everything but they can't process information or formulate there own opinions. These "academic" types have lousy social skills, few life skills and even have difficulty tying there shoe laces.

I find that academia (with the partial exception of the scientific field, which relies somewhat on performing and analysing practicals - memorisation does not really work there) in general requires a combination of good memory, a good work ethic and an ability to regurgitate information within a moderate context. The emphasis on memory (people with poorer memories tend to do less well academically, because even when analysing stimulus material, the markers are looking for key terms and key phrases, etc., that really need to be somehow memorised) allows Anglo girls (who have very good memories) to do well. A lot of intelligent people do perform academically because they have these traits. Idiots also don't tend to perform that well academically, because they often lack the intellect to know how to effectively absorb academic stumli, even if they have the ability to remember trivial things (the vast majority also have poor work ethics, which I imagine would lead to more unemployment amongst them than amongst the more intelligent). Even telling them only has a marginal effect, because it is akin to explaining biological warfare to a caveman. But not every intelligent person achieves academically, simply due to poor memories or just not being bothered.

Most young new age western women know only a neutered, simplified form of shamanistic and spiritual systems which they modify to accommodate their colossal egos.
I do know some older new age women however who have taken things to a higher level beyond that of psuedo-intellectualism and actually have shakti running through them. Their shakti/chi IS attractive to me and can at times cause a feeling similar to sexual arousal when I'm in their presence, but without any physical attraction or desire for actual sex.

I know how you feel. I feel as if I need to regress back into a adolescent when I talk to women; even to the ones who have degrees.
In fact, I don't even talk to women anymore publicly unless I have to, or the woman is old, because I can no longer relate and I'm tired of pretending to care about whatever senseless drivel they spew about so and so celebrity they don't even know.
Case in point, I was introduced to this one girl because the mother thought I was a good man. Well, I was excited to hear that the girl spent a great deal of time in school, so I figured I found a smart woman that I could at least talk to.
Well, I have never been so disappointed in my life. The girl had nothing meaningful to talk about, and it was as if she was a empty shell. And the few things she did say, they were all questions that one would ask to figure out how much money an individual would make. In fact, I was under the impression that she just wanted to find a man who could pay for her life so she could quit her job.
It gets worse though, I was asking her about what she studied and she then told me she "forgot" most of what she studied.
Unbelievable, the girl obtained grants to go to school, but she forgot the knowledge. What a waste of time and money.

WDC has many intellectual women. They are very smart and usually don't destroy your life in the usual fashion.
That's only one city, and you have to suck on the gov't tit to work, however.

I met some interesting women from other countries in my expat group when I lived in the Netherlands. But, most American women haven't traveled enough to have anything interesting to say.

Interesting that you say that because a friend of mine who did work in DC (and has since moved to the west coast) said the women were smart and highly paid but extremely cold fish with bad fashion sense. Basically it was like dating another man with the usual hangups and drawbacks of American women.
