American Women and Sports

Post by dreamer82 »

Back in 1998 the US women played China for the soccer World Cup. I was openly going for China for reasons I wasn't sure of until recently. The US did win and one of the Americans ripped off her jersey in celebration. I think that turned off a lot of guys like she was a guy. We don't like seeing these hypermasculine womyn acting totally disrespectfully. Granted there may be a few man-like chinese players but they wouldn't be so brazen if they won.

Unrelatedly, at the Beijing Olympics, the US men played China in baseball. A US runner coming in to score plowed into the Chinese catcher injuring him and starting a ruckus. What a complete dope to willfully try to hurt a competitor at an international tournament. They've since banned baseball and softball at the Olympics. Sure charging a catcher blocking the plate is legitimate here but it's the frickin olympics against China. Over-aggressive Americans

Are you referring to the 1999 Women's World Cup and Brandy Chastain? See vid link here:

The "We are the Champions" song by Queen is stereotypical of American attitudes: we always have to be sore winners. We don't have the capacity to be humble. Former USSR President Gorbachev stated it best, when he said that America suffers from "winner's complex". To be more trite and repeat what's already been said on this forum many times, it's a form of nationalistic/jingoistic narcissism. At the root of it, is the sense of inadequacy or inferiority, so we feel we need to rub it in other peoples' faces.

Female professional sports, is there anything more stupid?

The USA goal keeper had to blatantly cheat to save that shot as well, she was a good 4 feet off the line when the pk was taken. She did that on every try and neither the referee nor the linesman said anything. Fortunately sports are corrupt. Or maybe they were incompetent female officials. :P

One thing I noticed about Americans is their unwillingness to accept any notion of corruption in "the west". People in other nations are too quick to blame everything on that, while Americans cannot conceive the possibility of it. To do so would be as traumatic as seeing their brother burned alive or something..

When I'm not about to cry at how sad and pathetic the situation is, it's kind of amusing. What a nation of brainwashed idiots.

You could give them a 100 examples, it still wouldn't click inside their head.

Almost every country's citizens act like idiots when they win something global, look at the recent world cup that Spain won...It's not just Americans being brainwashed by bread and circuses...

You do know what Pete Rose did in a MLB All Star Game?

The Olympics are World Championships and deserve just as much if not more committment as a Friday High School game

Why is winning such a big deal now? Remember all those Olympics with the Soviets, Eastern Bloc and Chinese winning all the medals. People didn't really care. It's kind of related to our capitalistic society now. Everything is competitive. Are humans designed to be this way? A woman who wins all her (important?) soccer tournaments is certainly not going to date an average bloke. Who watches women sports anyway?
