the same thing happened to me.the first time i saw the light i was standing in front of my apartment and i saw a women who just got off the bus struggling to carry bags to her house she stood out because then i was living in a middle class black neighborhood and she was not black i never saw her before and me just being the nice guy that i am i crossed the street to help her.me crossing that street was the best thing that has happened in my life i cross over help the women to find she only lived across the street from me and she was from the philippines she thanked me was very polite saw her the next day asked for her number and got it as easy as that and had a blast with her the relationship flowed so easy, since then i knew i had to get out of the U.S.

as for the bars and clubs i want to kick my self in the a** for all the time i wasted doing that through my early 20's there is no honor among men any more in philadelphia the bar scene is the worst. and in the black community this alpha male false bravado is off the charts.black men are always trying to step to somebody's girl. men get shot here every day not even for drugs any more it's over a bitch most of the time even though i'm in the best part of the city i am trying to get out of the city.but the bar scene is a death sentence for any man regardless of race that doesn't fit the archetype designated to his race the white guy with the tattoos and the harley or the black thug dude any guy who may be original just wont register as a potential date to 99% of women who hang out in these spots.every time i see a bar or club now all i see it as is i'm just going to waste money nothing more i wish i had all that money back i spent in bars and invested it on going over seas years ago.

Just join a local gym and you'll see douchebags a'plenty. Lots of males who equate being an Alpha male with being an asshole. I'm baffled about this, but a lot of guys have a complex that mandates they stick their shoulders out to bump you intentionally or steal the weights you were using to establish their "Alpha"ness. I might have to quite this site because I'm becoming aggravated thinking about this stuff.

Where are you encountering these douche bags ?

I've never encountered any douchebaggish behavior in gyms, and been in the U.S. for 3 years. The men are extra polite and non-conforntational over here in LA, very laid back.

No one bumps into anyone, people politely ask if you are using weights, ask to do sets with you, chit chat.

My beef is just people are simple minded and very superficial, very Hollywood, no character depth and not interesting and lively people.

I live in a small community and when I go out with a girl douchebags abound! I can piss and shake my dick twice before there a guys up on my girl. As soon as I am seen by these guys they scatter like roaches. I am 6'3" and 240, these guys don't want to dance with me, they just want to see if they can pull a scrap from my table. I so sick of it all, I am so hoping it is differant abroad. The reality of everything is kind all hitting at once....

I honestly don't think there is any single "worst" place - it's similar in the Bay Area, some in Miami say it's the worst.

Santa Monica typifies the Hollywood stereotype- very liberal, very white, very feminist, and it's affluent and made up of lots of transplants and kids looking to become the next big actor.

And those are exactly the reasons that stack the deck against a majority of heterosexual men who are seeking romance, relationships and marriage if they reside there. Too many people wiling to throw their peers under the bus, because they are so caught up in their own self-importance, and inflated sense of ego that makes them out of touch with reality. That is a recipe for dating and marriage disaster.

Marriage ? This certainly isn't a marriage town. I would estimate 80% live in apartments and a high percentage are temporary transplants who come and go, giving the place an air of impermanence.

There seems to be very few married people here. Lots of couples and singles, but zero community and very few families.
