American pop culture glorifies violence and individuality, lone wolf vigilantes and vendettas. It's also a culture that absolutely forbids the showing of sexual intercourse and "private parts" on all but the most rare pay channels. On the one hand, American culture likes to portray itself as so morally pure, religious, and wholesome, but do a Google search for any basic thing like "girl" and you get nude photos. The majority of the world's p**n industry is based in America, too. America is a totally schizophrenic culture that says it's OK to show ultra violent murders on TV, but never a man and a woman showing love and affection to each other through sex. You tell me if that's normal. It's not. It's sick in the head. Your French friend is correct: Americans are violent and our pop culture has bred that into us. TV in France has tons of nudity and love scenes. You see topless women at the beach. In France most of their films are about love stories (which does get boring after a while, to be honest) and feminine women.
It is interesting that in some European countries, you see naked women in tv commercials and see topless women at beaches. Something you would never see in the US. However, what you do see in the US, is violence filled movies and tv shows.
It's funny, in America it's ok to show movies where people are getting murdered and killed by the most violent of ways and yet, any nudity in movies and the movie is automatically rated R. We don't want our kids seeing any nudity but it's ok to let them see movies and tv shows where people are being shot and killed in grotesque ways.

I think another big reason Americans are violent is due to the feminization of the culture and the emasculation of men. The fact that American men can no longer act like real men and have been so completely propagandized against and discriminated against for 40 years, leaves men with a helpless and desperate sense in their mind. The Taliban is into beastiality and homosexuality. Even though the latter is punishable by death, the Taliban are as evil as radical feminists. The best societies are the ones where the girls are mostly thin and dressed sexy. Any society with fat or masculine looking women is hell and both Radical Islamic and Radical feminism support that type of society but in a different way.

I would choose neither. It is never a good idea to support one extreme against another.
Besides, the Taliban and radical femmies are more similar than one would think upon first glance - both are sexually repressed, both are antagonistic towards the other gender, both use unnecessarily extreme tactics (beatings or legislation) to keep the other gender in line and both promote androgyny (covered women versus fat, masculine women). Both also promote barbaric societies in the shorter and longer term, except the Taliban are more overt about doing so than the radical femmies.

I agree they are both the same. Their aim is to make sure only a minute population(gay ambercromie types) get the thin women. The mechanisms are distinct. The feminists use more institutionalized methods by tricking closeted gay men to make laws in their favor. The Taliban did the same but had to use brute force(murdering the last Russian backed Afghan President) and then creating Vice and Virture department to beat up women not wearring the burka.

Don't have time to get into a lengthy post, so in short:
Sexual frustration, very poor diet, and, the big one, lack of love. Seriously. Makes people really cold, disconnected, heartless. Not to mention, deeply insecure (hence much of the HUGE boasting in all forms in the U.S. Physical boasting, cars, houses, etc. Insecurity flipped inside-out.)
Going out on a limb here, just a theory - I've noticed this seeming formula does make for some very effectively-used soldiers.
Wondering, is the mess in the U.S. orchestrated to breed soldiers, or better said, to breed killers? Sure seems like that.
But really, it's quite complex on one hand, yet really quite simple on the other - the opposite of love is fear and a branch of that is violence.
The amount of truly broken families and communities in America is staggering. Having spent much time in many other countries (like other people here), it's easy to see, despite the negatives, a good deal of the populations have some good family connections, at least better community or at least a sense of community.
Then you thrown in the staggering amount of consumerism, materialism, media onslaught, confusion, poor diet, and on and on and it just makes for one awful powder-keg mess waiting at any moment for the tiniest spark to set it off.
It is a different type of violence. A more complex, deeper type. The violence for example in 3rd world countries, it's a simpler form (for lack of better description). Usually due to poverty or territorial competition, battling over resources, simple insecurities. Things of this nature.
My 2 cents at least. In short, America as well as some other nations, need a massive reset, a cleansing. All this nonsense isn't working obviously.

In terms of global ranking, the US does not top the violent list. Firearms are fairly easy and legal to purchase in the US too.
If you look at rankings by state or district, the most violent place in America is... District of Columbia, aka Washington DC. You're more likely to be shot and killed in the US Capital than any other State in the US.

There were also 5,104.6 property crimes per 100,000 reported during the same period.[7] Overall, violent crime in the District of Columbia has decreased 46% since 1995 and property crime has decreased 46.3% during the same period. However, violent crime is still more than three times the national average of 454.5 reported offenses per 100,000 people in 2008.[8]"
