Chinese spare ribs

Post by odbo »

Has anyone actually used or witnessed someone using "gung-fu" to defend themselves or beat up anyone?

this Afghan guy is pretty good but that is hardly a street fight and for a "kung fu expert" he sure fights similar to someone who practices Tae Kwon Do

Traditional kung-fu doesn't really work anymore and it's outdated. I think the weapon styles are probably still good but I doubt many practitioners have used it for killing in so long that it's probably just mostly show now too.

Out of the "traditional" east asian martial arts that still work... Judo, Shotokan Karate, Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, San Shou are all still widely practiced and effective.

Muay Thai is by far the best and it's the defacto striking art these days for people who do mixed martial arts. A Muay Thai fighter will absolutely rip a boxer or traditionalist fighter to shreds.
