Where should I go? Philippines? I don't know.

Discuss culture, living, traveling, relocating, dating or anything related to the Asian countries - China, The Philippines, Thailand, etc.

Ripoffs are common there, but not violent crimes, as long as you exercise common sense.

Please search the FAQ threads for info about the Philippines first, before posting such a question.

As to disease, you should consult your doctor but when you do you will discover that there are very few malarial areas in PI. Hardly ever a case. But if you're worried a prescription for malarone would take care of you. Rabies? Are you planning to travel in rural areas and deal with animals or hang out in cities or at the beaches? Again not much chance of rabies. Dengue fever is far more common than malaria; depends on what area you are going to. Bring mosquito spray if you are concerned about dengue or malaria.

While the wet season starts in June, it peaks later in the summer or early fall.

But again, all this is info you can easily discover on the net. Have fun wherever you go and try not to worry too much.

I've seen a couple of websites that suggest it's better to actually go to the Philippines and meet women in everyday life - in shopping malls, etc., than it is to try and do it online.

One of the sites recommending this is Pointman Cebu, a private-investigation agency that will, for a fee of about $250.00, investigate any Filipino girl you plan to get seriously involved with.
The operator of Pointman Cebu says that 90% of the girls on Cherry Blossoms and other Asian online dating sites are scammers.

The other site, So You Want to Marry a Filipina, http://www.filipinawives.com/So.htm, recommends the same thing.

I jumped in with both feet into Cherry Blossoms, and have been corresponding with quite a few Filipinas, but after reading the above websites, I'm now beginning to think it might be wiser and safer me to hook up instead with a tour company
that specializes in taking men to the Philippines and other Asian countries to meet women. The So You Want to Marry a Filipina site suggests that it's not safe for a single man to just go to the Philippines and meet women without some sort of escort or back-up because some criminals in the Philippines prey on single men going it alone. FWIW, the 'So You Want to Marry...' site does not sell tours, only a book giving advice to men contemplating marriage to a Filipino women.

I think that's a big exaggeration. Obviously, a detective agency has a vested interest in saying that. Why take what they say on faith? You should take everything with a grain of salt.

Guangzhou or somewhere else in China gets my vote. I've had some bonkers adventures in that crazy city. The advantage of Guangzhou is that you've got the place to yourself. The only foreigners I've seen there are Russian fashion designers, expat buyers and very lost tourists looking for the train to Hong Kong!

Plus Chinese women are much less likely to be scammers. They just want to get married and borned babies.

Dating sites are full of scammers. But if you're not marriage minded and just want fun, then why would you care about scammers? Scammers are only a problem if you're in the USA and can't afford to actually visit Asia. Once you're in Asia you become marriage material, not scam material.

And scammers never scam 25 year old guys - they're top notch marriage material! Honestly man, you'd be engaged by the time you left the airport terminal.
I was Happier Abroad for a while but Covid killed that off.

Absolutely nothing wrong with meeting them online if you know what you are doing. Do a search on this topic. Many guys have made some very valid points on how to stand a better chance of succeeding with filipinas.

But to recap, find a site like Cherry Blossoms that has an advanced search feature. Put in what you like ie single, never married, no kids, no smoking but make sure and add college education.

Take your list and pair it down to your Top 25. You want to focus on girls that actually look like they already have a job/come from a middle class family. Contrary to popular belief, yes they do exist!!!!! Look for nurses, scientists, accountants, computer programmers, call center workers. If they are from a small town instead of Manila, IMHO it's a plus.

You then approach them! Be the hunter and not the hunted. Ignore the emails that come from the filipinas. They are the ones that are desperate and interested in scamming you. Ignore the 9's and 10s because they will be trouble.

If you are lucky, you'll find a girl that works a 9-5 job who is stable and is a good catch. As Ladislav and others have said, maybe 5% of the guys actually find time to go visit them in Phils. If you are willing to make a trip, it's a huge advantage to you!!!!

After doing a lot of communicating in advance, find a few that you think would be winners and visit them on your trip. I used this technique and found my wife. Davewe is in Boracay right now with his gf (future wife???????? :) ) My good buddy married a nurse he found on Cherry Blossoms using this data. So it can be done! Good luck.
