Of the Gender imbalance. I read that by 2020 there would be anywhere form 20 million more Chinese men than women. That's a big number. I don't think there is 20 million Asian Americans in this country .
Wouldn't this make China not a good place to find a wife in the coming future? I mean maybe now ....you might have a chance but in the future the competition and the women becoming spoiled because they know that they have soo much values.
I just kind of feel bad for the CHinese men ..and maybe some of the Asian American men who would want to go back to China to find a wife. Either the wealthy guy or the guy with better game maybe able to get the girls.
For those of you living in China ...how is it there? Is it that bad in the gender imbalance? How do Chinese men react to see western men with Chinese women..?
or is it the media just blowing it out of proportion.

Somebody on here posted something to the effect that 90 percent of Chinese men really aren't in competition with you for the choicest women, due to peasant status and/or the most slovenly sort of personal habits.
I get the impression from what I've read here that Chinese women are among the most likely to make their interest in you very clear. That was the case with the only Chinese woman I've ever known. Go check it out for yourself and see.

We already discussed this on other threads. See the FAQ threads section. The gender imbalance is only in the countryside. In the big cities, there is a woman SURPLUS, which the stupid media never tells you about.

Re: Wouldn't China be one of the last places to go because o
I can tell by fretful posts like this that someone hasn't lived abroad or traveled abroad much. Statistically speaking the gender ratio in China is skewed in the countryside. In the cities the balance is more 50/50 if not slightly more women than men depending on the city. Single women flock to cities this is true anywhere in the world. Unless you're going into the backwoods to find women in China this has no effect.chanta76 wrote:Of the Gender imbalance. Also, it's extremely easy to meet and befriend Chinese women anywhere..this is especially true if you're an asian-american and speak Mandarin.
First, there's several things you need to know about China.
1. The gender imbalance only exists in rural areas(cities have more women than men)
2. If a Chinese woman isn't married by the time she's 25 yrs. she won't ever get married
3. Divorce in China is increasing
When you consider these factors, its easy to see why China has so many single women, making it a top destination for dating.

The Taiwanese call them "dalumei" 大陸妹. (大陸 = mainland China, 妹[妹] = little sister / "babe") Men in Taiwan, Malaysia, and Singapore have been increasingly marrying mainland Chinese wives, and they are often made fun of. Such as:
One of the lines says,
最好把錢省下來去大陸娶老婆 ("Better save your money and get a mainland Chinese bride" - making fun of elderly Taiwanese perverts who are whoremongering in Taipei)

Yeah, we don't need to worry about the gender imbalance. Most (all?) Chinese ladies looking for Western husbands are of no interest to Chinese men.
Take the women I've dated. They've all been either been too intelligent, too wealthy or the wrong look for Chinese men. And on top of that there are many single moms who find it very hard to remarry.
If you're ever in Guangzhou, look at the new Chinese brides being photographed in and around Shamian Island. To a girl they're around 7 stone and stick thin. That's the look Chinese men look for. I don't think I'm alone in thinking the Chinese women with a few extra pounds look much more womanly.

To explain in brief, many Chinese young adults migrate from rural areas to urban areas for education and career opportunities. It's much easier for a migrant girl to find a husband in the city, get marry, and settle there. However, a city girl is less likely to marry a migrant labor guy. So the guys who stayed back home in rural areas, or had to move back to the rural towns, get screwed. This is a pattern that has already occurred in Taiwan and SK, except TW/SK income levels are higher and they just import brides from poorer countries.
Despite China's gender imbalance at birth, the ratio of men to women for Chinese grad students studying in US, and Chinese students studying in Taiwan is approx. 40:60. That is, for every 100 Mainland Chinese students that arrive in Taiwan to study, 60% are women. There have been many relationships formed between Mainland Chinese students and local Taiwanese men, however the relationship usually doesn't work out unless if the Taiwanese guy is willing to move to China to chase the girl.

The Mainland Chinese women marrying TW men almost exploded into a massive foreign marriage majority until the TW government got scared and various nativist advocacy groups slapped on various laws making it more difficult. Now the #1 foreign bride in TW are Vietnamese with Mainland Chinese a close #2 I think. I'm not sure if that's statistically correct but those two groups completely outweigh all other foreign female marriages in TW by a huge margin if I remember correctly.momopi wrote:To explain in brief, many Chinese young adults migrate from rural areas to urban areas for education and career opportunities. I imagine if there were no immigration limits to it TW would find itself completely colonized by mainland Chinese women.
In Singapore something similar was happening too but they also made it more difficult for all SE Asian groups as well as mainland Chinese. As a Singaporean male it's pretty pointless to date Singaporean women at all.

Foreign-Born Wives and Their Contribution to Fertility
The economic development and globalization of Taiwan since the 1980s has been accompanied by a major societal change: a progressive internationalization of the household. Largely subsumed as part of the broad transformation of "global householding" that has been underway across many areas of East and Southeast Asia in recent decades, this trend is reflected in Taiwan by the increased demand for foreign-born wives on the part of Taiwanese men.
In addition to the societal forces and personal motivations behind the strong and persistent demand for and supply of foreign-born wives, annual flows are subject to the policies and manipulations of national governments, sometimes resulting in sharp fluctuations with respect to both volumes and major places of origin.
The abolishment of martial law in 1987, the lifting of strict regulations against visiting relatives back in Mainland China in 1988, and the first permission of Chinese Mainlander wives of Taiwanese husbands to travel to Taiwan in 1992 contributed to the first wave of marriages between Chinese Mainlander women and Taiwanese men. By 2003, the annual number of registered marriages involving a spouse from Mainland China reached 34,685, representing 20.2 percent of all marriages registered in that year.
Concerned with the long-term implications of such a large intake of Chinese Mainlander spouses on the political independence of Taiwan from China, the government of Taiwan tightened the restriction on the inflow of Chinese brides, resulting in a sharp reduction in the annual number of registered marriages with a Chinese Mainlander spouse to 10,642 in 2004, or 8.1 percent of all marriages that year.
In recent years, increasing Taiwanese investment in the economies of Southeast Asia has been accompanied by an increased demographic connection. Between 2007 and 2009, 20 percent of all foreign-born wives in Taiwan were from Vietnam, though Mainland China — benefiting from language affinity with Taiwan — has remained the most important source of brides.
According to the Taiwan Ministry of the Interior (MOI), in 2007 there were 24,700 marriages between Taiwanese grooms and non-Taiwanese brides, representing 18.3 percent of all marriages and bringing the total number of foreign-born wives in Taiwan to 372,741. By the end of January 2010, the stock of foreign-born wives had increased to 401,685, with the majority from China (65.5 percent), Vietnam (20.5 percent), and Indonesia (6.5 percent). By comparison, in 2007 there were just 31,807 marriages in Japan between foreign-born women and Japanese men, representing 4.4 percent of all marriages.
With respect to long-term demographic effects, foreign-born wives are considered permanent immigrants (as opposed to foreign contract workers, who must leave the country after a specified period of time) and contribute significantly to population growth in Taiwan. The average fertility rates of foreign-born wives in Taiwan varies depending on the country of origin, with Indonesian women having the most children (2.0) followed by women from the Philippines (1.86), Thailand (1.68), Vietnam (1.6), and Mainland China (1.4). Chinese Mainlander wives in Taiwan have the lowest lifetime fertility because they tend to marry at older ages, have a larger spousal age gap, are more often separated or divorced, and are more likely to be in their second marriage.

Also I don't know if it's the same in China, but in Western Europe the male death rate of younger men is 3x that of women! I found this astonishing.
It's a combination of bad motorcycle skills, reluctance to go to the doctor, industrial accidents* and suicide.
*If I remember rightly, an astonishing 95% of deaths in the workplace are men.

I can imagine rural Chinese men creating a web-site called lonelyhearts.com...and bitching about how Chinese women don't want them etc..etc
Not too different from this site where we bitch about how fuxked up American women .
I'm saying that if a Chinese women rejects a Chinese men for status and money...wouldn't see also reject you if a better deal comes around?
Someone posted that in America is for an Asian women like the Philippines is for an American guy.
I think there is some truths behind that. I live in New York City. I come across Chinese women ..some of them are fobs..Ok..Ok they are in america so they are not as desperate since they can make their owns lives here. Same with the Philippine women I see in Woodside Queesn.
Is it because they live in America and become Americanize and so have the same attitude? Maybe ..it could be. But it's also that being an Asian women gives them the privilege status because I notice lots of American guys are going after them.
What I am saying is only for now..maybe because of economic and social status a westerner(white or asian or black etc) can have some edge over a local Chinese guy in China to get a Chinese girl friend but I really think in the future ..As Chinese men rises up ..improve their economic condition and improve game. Chinese women will become spoiled.
Plus ..over here in the west we already have western guys going over to China....to whore monger...this is what happened to Russia in the 90's . Western guys in China in a without knowing it ...actually westernize the place and help spur Chinese women to become more western.
Just my thinking....

It's not going to happen because there are something like 400-500 million Chinese women in China. The Chinese diaspora around SE Asia is huge too. In Thailand the influence and presence of ethnic Chinese people is everywhere especially with the middle class. It's just not the same. Russia also tons of European guys flocking there every weekend for stag parties and such. China simply doesn't have that cultural ease or geographical connection that Russia does with the western world.chanta76 wrote: Plus ..over here in the west we already have western guys going over to China....to whore monger...this is what happened to Russia in the 90's . Plus the middle class in China is still a small % it'll never get to the point of having a GDP per capita equivalent to that of its prosperous neighbors like Korea, Japan, or Taiwan. For that to happen China's total GDP would literally have to quadruple the total GDP of the U.S.. That's never going to happen and it's really not possible considering the resource, economic growth, and governmental limitations.
Chanta76,
Westernization and increasing materialism are aspects of a disease that is increasingly spreading across the world, making women more materialistic, less family oriented, self entitled, and far less viable as reliable lifetime partners. This is happening all over the world, but in varying degrees and at varying speeds and stages of growth.
At the moment China is a far superior place to look for women than the USA, not simply because of the aforementioned city demographics, but because the average Chinese girl's character is far less tainted by western values and materialism (obviously there are some, but we're talking about the average for a general picture).
The increasing reach of Western consumerist propaganda is a problem that will increasingly affect every developing country in the world, not just China. If things continue at this rate, 30 years from now there'll be social problems everywhere, not just China, so it's pointless to just single out China. And that's 30 years from now. Let's live in the present because the present is what's relevant to us. Currently China is a great place to look for women if you understand the city demographics, and it would be premature to start worrying about excessive westernization at this current stage.

Chinese Women
I have seen with my own eyes, quite an amazing sight: I have watched the hottest Chinese girls who were dressed to go out with mini-dresses, heels and all that, stroll pass a group of young Chinese guys and the Chinese guys weren't even interested. Not even a glance in their general direction.
So, just think about it. Treat them nice and notice them, and for girls from China, it will be an incredible experience.

Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that all was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dream with open eyes, and make it possible.
