Opting out - "MGTOW"

Post Opting out - "MGTOW"
I'm sure many of you have heard the term "MGTOW". It's a fairly recent social trend which is gaining steam in the blogosphere, but also, surprisingly, in what I see around me.

It stands for "Men Going Their Own Way" - the decision to drop out of the dating market, and stop pursuing women or chasing them.

Without even knowing about this acronym, this is what I myself have been doing for about a year (I've practically withdrawn from the dating game due to being burnt out and tired after years of rejection), but right around the same time, somewhere around 2011, lots of other men seem to have started expressing the same sentiment, and withdrawing from dating in large numbers.

In October 2011 an article appeared reporting that men were starting to "give up"
http://www.hookingupsmart.com/2011/10/31/tidbits/giving-up-is-on-the-rise/

"Psychology Today" made a reference to MGTOW in a recent article reporting that "men are frustrated with dating":

Quote:

4) Opting Out - finally, some men choose opting out as the best option for them. This is sometimes known as the "men going their own way" (MGTOW) movement. Essentially, these are the guys who have been frustrated and punished to the point that they see no further incentive to relate. Rather than spending their efforts on material success to attract a partner, they focus on making themselves happy. Although these guys are often socially-shamed as "not growing up", in fact, they are arguably just reacting to the lack of outside motivation...and taking care of themselves.

There are whole blogs and websites dedicated to MGTOW such as www.the-spearhead.com which advocates that men start making themselves happy, without women.

The point made by all these discussions (esp. the Psychology Today article) is that men are going through an extremely different period in history right now, and that many view opting out as the best choice. If a sufficient number adopt the MGTOW lifestyle, by completely stopping pursuing women (kind of like a 'marriage strike'), then that may scare women into retreating from their current position of arrogance and power. In effect, MGTOW is kind of like a feminist movement for men.

Again, I've only recently stumbled upon this term, but it seems like this is a more global trend than I imagined, any thoughts?

The Psychology Today article totally misses the real point of MGTOW. It doesn't even look at the issue that men are fed up with having to deal with stuck-up, unapproachable women. They're tired of a lopsided and unfair arrangement that hands all the power to women and forces men to do all the work in relationships and bear the brunt of rejection or get little or no reward for their efforts unless they behave in sociopathic ways.

Won't women be surprised when they find all the men are gone, or that they absolutely cannot get dates, boyfriends, or husbands no matter what they do?

Amen. I'm one of those men who voted with his feet and marrying a foreigner. I wish we could see that moment in our lifetimes where AW are all of the sudden rejected, more men dating foreign women and marrying them to the point AW realize they have lost and lost for good. Hell this should be a wake up call to women in america. Get your shit together or you will lose and lose badly. More men are waking up and seeking elsewhere.

We already discussed the MGTOW topic. I think I am also a part of the movement somehow. Though they kicked me out of the forum Smile

But anyway humans should go their own way, right? What´s the problem? There is no life threat that people have to live with a partner.

The sad truth is: It is more difficult for men to keep their lust under control. This makes things so difficult. Otherwise it would be an easy game. Right?

I am a MGHOW.....I just moved to somewhere where there are nice women. Easy for me.

Other men could do this too if they bothered to co-operate and collaborate rather than to compete.

I can't wait for that day to come, when women in anglo-countries will have a hard time meeting men, getting dates and have a hard time finding a husband. Twisted Evil

As more and more men stop pursuing women and more and more men only date and marry foreign women, anglo-women will be shit-out-luck when it comes to finding men!

MGTOW is hardly new. In every third world country, men go their own way. MGTOW is what makes a country third world in the first place. And that is where the West is headed.
