Thanks for the replies everyone.

Pete -- I'm the exact opposite actually. I love my hobbies/interests but don't spend tons of time on them (although with music like Trance the "hobby" consists of just playing it all day long in the background while you do other stuff haha).

However, when it comes to spending time with my girl, ALL I WANT TO DO is spend time with her and share everything I do with her. I'm not a clinger or codependent but nothing is the same if "she" isn't with me. So hopefully that means Filipinas would LOVE me as their man... and hopefully they would never get tired of spending time with me unlike my ex. :D

With your attitude you'll do just fine! Hope she learns to enjoy Trance!!! I'm almost comical but I'll give you ample warning. The Republic of Philippines is home of the cheesiest, sappiest love longs ever performed. For some reason they eat it up. So if you don't mind her singing to the top of her lungs to anything Journey or Air Supply you guys will get along fine. Oh and she'll probably want her own karaoke machine so she can practice (loudly) too :) Ah the things we put up with for love.....

Absolutely! My biggest problem is my gf loves Adele and plays her music and sings it lots. I just return serve by playing my jazz recordings which she politely listens to but crinkles her nose.

There's something to be said about a culture based on the style of music and art they like. Filipinas like sappy love songs because they are emotionally shallow and simple people. Thais are quite similar in this way. The music and TV shows in these cultures are extremely shallow and non diverse. I mean at least in the western world there are enormous sub genres of everything and much better quality overall. It's not even comparable. I know someone will inevitably bring up clowns like Britney Spears, Kardashians or Jersey shore but for every stupid thing like that there is David Bowie, Wire, Boardwalk Empire, etc.. the latter type of music and shows i'm talking about simply doesn't exist in SEA culture.

You might find exceptions here and there but overall it's true. Don't expect any great philosophical insights with these people it's basically all turn your brain off and have fun.

They might go with your hobbies but they won't understand it beyond a superficial level unless they had an interest in it before meeting you.

Interesting that the examples you used of our superior Western culture were created by: a 65-year old rocker (Bowie); and a 70-year old filmmaker (Scorcese - Boardwalk Empire).

Most modern, youth-oriented music is insipid whether it's created in the RP or the West. As I mentioned earlier in the thread my gfs favorite singer is Adele who is equally popular (and equally awful) in the West. My 12-year old loves her as well, so I get to barf at her warblings often.

As to movies, I was surprised that my gf had seen most Hollywood stuff over the past decade. Course you could also make the case that that's all awful and I won't argue, but tastes in popular films are similar and it's not the RP's fault that Hollywood makes lots of crap. In fact if you look at the International Movie box office you'll discover that the top movies in RP are similar to those here. Currently #1 is Men in Black 3, #3 is Avengers, etc.

As to the OP's original question it of course depends on what your hobbies and tastes are. If your notion of easy listening is Eminem or your idea of a mellow night at the movies is Lars Von Trier or Scorcese's Taxi Driver - well maybe she won't be able to share.

But if you simply want to dance and share some of your passions with her, I think you'll do fine.

Where do you get this idea from that MOST filipinas won't compromise on having sex every day? How many girls do you base this on?
I would rather make $2000 a month working for myself, then $4000 a month working for a bitch.

5,287!

But seriously, if you review postings on HA and other forums the standard generalization is that Filipina gfs and wives are not known for saying "no" or "I just washed my hair."

From my own experience I would say that many Filipinas are ready anytime. I would base that on my impressions from living here and having routine contact. That said, there is another element that come in to play. >>>>Women become MUCH MORE territorial and horny when they know for a fact that a man denied can solve the problem in 30 minutes any day if he wants to. To keep a man exhausted is a kind of defensive move I think as well as their own desires coming into play.

A girl who wont say no is different from a girl who wants or expects sex every day.

I don't quite understand your points. Can you elaborate or explain differently?

You can make generalizations but its best to make a list of qualities you want in a woman and see if you can find a girl that has those qualities.
The Filipinas or Pinay are a group that are very loyal, family oriented, hard working, strong catholic and yes romantic.
In general, the make good wives and lovers. But then you have to start looking at individual traits.

Are they interested in Trance Music? Perhaps some are. You might find a girl who is very artsy and loves electronic music.
That would be a good place to start.

The question of if they are truly "open book" as you say, well this also depends on the individual.

I have found many girls like a man to be honest and sincere with them. I guess they get tired of being lied to or "played".
Here too, I would look at how the girl reacts to you being up front and honest. If its good and she likes it, then chances are that it could be a good relationship.
If she's like "meh..." then maybe she's not that interested.

One thing I would discourage is getting involved with a bar girl or escort. These girls are not for marrying.
Seriously. I'm sure someone has done it but the odds are not in your favor.

So choose wisely.

That's my 2 cents.

One of the positive parts of the overwhelming Catholic faith. It is her duty to say yes, the so-called natural family planning, the rhythm denial method, only comes into play in other societies where couples are trying to avoid having children and then they run across church rules.

I think you're taking these statements too literally. The point is that compared to the Western women we are used to Pinays are passionate, enjoy pleasing their man, and enjoy sex. I got no scientific study to prove it, just some experience, as do many other guys on HA. Believe it - don't believe it - it's your choice.
