Wow I didn't know Taiwan would be the in top five.

What I don't get though, is why the Middle East and India are so low, even lower than the Philippines. How can that be? I thought Indians were supposed to be wise and philosophical? The ones I've met usually are.

Also, I thought Rock said that Ashkenazi Jews had the highest IQ's. If so, then how come Israel isn't ranked among the highest? Rock, why?

Here is a Wikipedia article on Ashkenazi Jewish intelligence. However, Wikipedia represents the orthodox view of everything, which is not always unbiased or objective, so take it with a grain of salt.

1. Israel is not just populated by Ashkenazi Jews. Its Jewish side is a smorgasbord of all types. Moreover, much if it is populated by Palestinian people. So scores for the Ashkenazi Jews get diluted by the other groups – somewhat lower average for non-Ashkenazi Jews and an even lower average for Palestinians.

2. The US is a magnet for the best and brightest. I suspect that the American Jews (most of which are Ashkenazi) have an even higher average IQ than their counterparts in Israel. Same goes for Asian Americans vs. those Asian born and raised in their ancestral lands. I wouldn’t be surprised if say Korean Americans averaged around 110 vs. 106 for South Koreans. Just my qualitative guesses based on my experience with these various groups.

3. India has a huge amount of dire poverty. Economics has a big depressing influence on IQ once a certain minimum living threshold is not met. Middle East also has a lot of poverty believe it or not.

Note how different ages were used in different countries, all of the testing is old (most recent is 1999, some date back to the 50's and 60's), etc.

You'd have to do something much more standardized to draw any conclusions.
