What the U.S. media never tells Americans is that the U.S. side of the border region is far more dangerous for innocent civilians than the Mexican side is.

Far more Latino migrants die on the American side than Americans do in cartel shootout crossfire (which is statistically very unlikely to happen - maybe comparable to getting struck by lightning). Yet the media chooses to focus on the latter.

On the U.S. side of the border region, people - including innocent U.S. citizens who happen to wander there:
- Die from dehydration, heat cramps, and drowning
- Get shot at by U.S. authorities
- Get robbed and beaten up by bandits
- Get abused and mistreated by the Border Patrol, or even worse, Minutemen

On the Mexican side of the border region, the Grupo Beta helps out migrants and gives them legal counsel, water, medical help, and so on. The cartels usually fight among themselves, and in when they actually do decide to do something outrageous to innocent civilians, the mainstream media goes nuts.

I've personally been on both sides of the border area, and excluding towns and cities, the American side is definitely far, FAR scarier than the Mexican side is.

PBS tends to be less biased:
