I have read that Icelanders really get homesick when they come to America to work. They often return back to there home island Iceland.

Wow amazing video. I didn't know there were so many tall hot blondes in Iceland. I thought Icelanders would look like Eskimos. lol
Where did all those white people there originate from? What European country?
I wonder if those tall hot blondes there are into Asians?
And what about Greenland? Is it like that too?
There's a funny part in the video where Oprah acts surprised when her Icelander guest says that having sex on the first meeting is the norm in Iceland. lol

Oops I just found out that Iceland is considered part of Europe, so I'm moving this thread to the Europe section.

I think its a colony of the Dutch or Denmark or something. Iceland has a large U.S. military presence, and would be nuked off the face of the world in a heartbeat.

Iceland was originally settled by Irish monks in the 3rd-5th centuries. Then the Vikings arrived there from Norway/Sweden. The main Viking was Eric the Red, who had to flee his homeland because he killed someone over land disputes. His son, Leif Ericsson explored the land west of Iceland, including Greenland (he's the one who named it that, in order to entice people to settle there), and the Canadian/US coastline. There are ruins of a Viking settlement in L'Anse aux Meadows in Newfoundland.
The Icelanders still speak more or less the same language of the old Vikings from 1000 years ago, i.e. Old Norse and their language is freaking hard to learn. They also have one of the most pure (unmixed) bloodlines in the world, due to their isolation. I believe they played a major role in the human genome mapping project, due to this genetic homogeneity (I'm not talking Aryanism, here...).

That's a brilliant quote RedDog. If the US were truly free, it would not need to constantly rave about it in their media, patriotic rallies, and schools.

My critique of Iceland is not very favorable.Scandinavians love to brag about what a model society they have. However, nothing could be further from the truth. Men are marginalized there the same way they are are in other western countires. Also, Iceland is basically bankrupt from the financial crisis from my understanding. If you took the alcohol out of the country there would be nothing to do.
I like this video of Bjork saying "hello" to a reporter. This is what Icelandic women are really like.
Even if Iceland were an ideal place socially, its climate & physical location in the world make it very vulnerable to a lot of geological issues. All children are required to take geology classes during their schooling. Just look at the recent volcanic eruption for instance. Iceland is lying right on top of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, making it a perfect target for all kinds of crazy stuff. You wouldn't need any nukes to wipe it out. Just one decent-sized natural disaster (which is inevitable given where they are) and that's IT for that place. It's also in a high latitude near the Arctic Circle making it a sucky place to be for the winter half of the year (very short days and likely non-stop cold till the short summer rolls around) & a bit sucky place to be even in summer, despite the very long days near the solstice. I have to admit, as an any-time-sleeper, I'd love to be in a place like that around the summer solstice when the sun is almost continuously up for more than a day. Sunlight at three a.m. sounds like a dream come true for me.

I could never understand what the hell bjork was saying...

<-- the only time i ever understood anything 'Big TIme Sensuality'... all her music is moaning and her acting weird in videos... I don't understand people's facination with her music it sux. The last girl I dated told me she loved her stuff... it apparently has something to do with manic depression/bipolar disorder.
Ya I heard ice/greenland were feminist states aswell.

IcelandAir used to have a very cheap deal flying from BWI to Luxembourg, via Rejkjavik, Iceland, where you can stop over for a few days and party.
