I lived in England for 2 yrs. so I can relate to what he's saying. I hated living there but if your into art, history, football, drinking or shopping for clothes you might find it interesting. He forgot to mention the weather is depressing eight months of the year and if you took the alcohol out of England there would be nothing to do. Also, its the only country I have been to where I dislike the women more than american women.

Why do you dislike UK women more than American women? They seem so intelligent and down to earth. Isn't that a good thing?
They also seem more cheerful and easy to socialize with.
What if you go to the pubs to socialize with people, but just order coke or iced tea? Wouldn't that work too?
What about rolling green hills and historical castles?
I'm surprised that he said there's no dating in England and that a guy and girl usually hang out together in groups. Ick. With a group, you never know who you're gonna get, but I'm sure most of them are decent folk. But how can you do something more intimate, even hold hands, if you're in a group?

Didn't Bella say exactly the same thing???
Interesting that he said as an American, he could get away with breaking some of the implied social restrictions which applied to locals. Sounds similar to the case of foreigners in some Asian countries.
BTW, I also lived in England for over 2 years and was not able to crack the dating code. The London gals seemed to have very high standards. Perhaps I should have tried working on a few of the many resident foreigners but I was very busy with my studies and work.

The advantage of living in England: easy access to Holland, France, Belgium.
Interact with the stuck up, bitchy, know-it-all British women? Not a chance!
The UK government is too fascist and nosy for me though.

UK women are the only women I know of that drink, smoke and sleep around more than american women. When you add that to a high calorie, low protein diet you end up with women that look 10 years older than than they should. Also, they don't wear much makeup which doesn't help. Occasionally, you will find a UK woman like Liz Hurley that does not fit this stereotype, but this is rare. The best looking women I saw in England were always foreigners.

Aaah. I think, unfortunately, I'll have to concur with this (apart from smoking, I don't know anyone who smokes anymore). You absolutely cannot underestimate the importance of alcohol here. Casual sex is also incredibly common and in some circles very much expected.
I'd also agree that in general makeup isn't a big issue, but it doesn't seem to be one for other European girls I know.
The healthiest people go to the countryside from what I've seen. That's where you'll find any Liz Hurley types as well. The lady herself owns an organic farm now, as it's the 'done thing'. You'll rarely find them in, say, a run-down average city in the middle of England because there's no quality of life there. You'll need to go to the nicer areas. Having said that, I do know a lot of girls here who are lovely and take care of themselves- but they'll be in the nice pretty countryside places getting fresh air and good food and having a nice relaxed social life rather than scuffling along in the rain in a little no-hoper city with a stomach full of microwaved pasties and sausage rolls.
I see this even where I am right now- I often go to nice countryside areas and everything changes. People dress smarter, they have more pride in themselves, have more hobbies/interests, better social lives, and are generally more friendly and pleasant.
As for dating, yes- there is NO dating, especially not several people, and a lot of hanging around in mixed-sex groups. You get to know someone as a friend, then you become official 'boyfriend and girlfriend'. It's not very... organised, I guess. Take me and my chap- we met on a course and became good friends, I let him know I'd like to be more than friends, that was it we became a 'couple', then we just hung out together as couples do (yes you do go round as couples too Winston, a lot). We didn't have proper dates, just talked, travelled around, etc. I think for a lot of Brits a proper 'date' would be too formal and you'd be under too much pressure, they'd rather just relax and get to know each other without it being a big deal if they don't gel. (My chap's not a Brit tho, but has integrated very well and didn't seem to find this a problem).
J.Adama: Stuck-up, bitchy and know-it-all? I'm not defending my countryfolk here, but I wouldn't describe anyone I know like that. If I hear people moaning that Britain has bad weather, an alcohol problem and a lot of fat no-hopers living off government money, then yes, for instance! But I wouldn't say we are particularly arrogant or bitchy, honestly. I'd even venture that if this has been your experience you've had an unusual one. If anything I think people pride themselves on being down-to-earth. In addition, every (EVERY) foreigner I've spoken to has said he likes the British and finds them friendly, fun and laid-back. These are usually people from mainland Europe or developing countries. There was a survey of refugees recently too asking about their experiences and they said the same thing.
I wouldn't recommend the UK as an alternative to America for the purposes of this site but I don't think you can merge the two by any means. We do have our differences.

Well as long as they are friendly and approachable, that's what counts.
I met some older British blonde women in their 40's once in Red Square in Moscow, and they enjoyed flirting with me and having me put my arm around them. They thought it was cute. They wanted me to go to see the Bolshoi Ballet with them but I didn't have a ticket. lol
But anyhow, they seemed a lot more good natured and easy to talk to than American women their age. That's for sure.

Bella,
How do you get "casual sex" in the UK if it's so common? Some guys here said they went there and never got any dates. I mean, if you meet a girl who is proper and civil, you can just say "hey wanna have sex" like they do in sitcoms. That'd be inappropriate.
Are you supposed to buy her drinks and see if she gets drunk and then take her home? Is that how guys do it? I hate using alcohol to seduce someone. That's so lame and low quality.
Or do you just wait for her to touch you and say seductive words?
