My parents used to make me pull weeds as a kid, as punishment for acting out. I hated every second of it, but here's the thing: it was a rare occurrence and never lasted more than an hour at a time. Fast forward a decade later, and I'm essentially forced to pull weeds for 12 hours a day (if you count commuting and a rushed gym session, which you absolutely should), 5 days a week. Of course pulling weeds isn't my actual job, but it's as equally unpleasant. As are 99% of jobs.
How do people do it? Less than a year in, I'm already starting to lose my mind. And I've always been fairly motivated. How do all those slackers in high school who got C's and D's manage to adjust?
There's no benefit to working for a living. I can't even enjoy sex with the dark cloud of work always looming.
