I suppose this Canadian guy is a useful "decoder" for people like him: white, Anglo, liberal/progressive, atheist.

When a white atheist liberal criticizes American blacks, you know that the black problem has gone on too long, and too far.

At least, he did say that "humility in the face of expertise is an essential component of our intellectual and emotional maturity" -- which may be a hopeful sign of his religious awakening and conversion.

I don't watch TV but still am not surprised about what happened. There have been lots of mini riots/looting's for several years with widely scattered flash mobs/robberies. This anger has been smoldering for years now. Blacks in aggregate wealth was wiped out in 2008, there has been zero recovery for them. This is an opportunity that was bound to happen, pent up anger released by rioting and destroying anyone slightly more successful on scale. This might get you a lot more government subsidies but it will never be enough. And because it feeds toxic Machiavellian incentives it can actually make things much worse. The victim-hood model does nothing to improve blacks position, burning down local infrastructure and small business only destroys things, see Detroit its been burning for years.

There are a lot of St. Louis like areas scattered across the Eastern US. Political correctness just goes with the clannish jealously and rage then blames the exhaustively fair and productive.
