I occasionally hear a comment about women being upset if men leave the toilet seat up. I actually worked at an office that had two males and several females. I reported to the other man, who made a big deal if I left the toilet seat up. He seemed to think it was immoral to do so. It's seemed like a mangina mentality to me to pay so much attention to such a small detail.

What I don't get is why it would be a big deal? I've heard women complain about falling in the toilet. What I don't get, is who in their right mind would sit without looking? Some of us either scrub public or shared toilets down or else cover them in toilet paper.

Maybe a lot of women do not do this before they sit because other girls did not pee all over the toilet seat like the boys did in the bathroom at school. But still... to not look at all.. makes no sense. I learned in elementary school to look before sitting in the cafeteria. The last kid's chocolate milk or ketchup could be in that seat. I look before sitting in other public facilities also.

This is a funny topic, coming up in feminist countries sometimes, like this nonsense about removing of urinals, because boys should not do what girls cannot.

Here in Asia, this issue does not exist, as older toilets, squat type, do not have any toilet cover.
In Japan these types are getting less and less, all new building constructions are now with modern toilets with washlets, even in public restrooms, gas-stations, convenience stores, railway stations etc.

Nowadays anyway here in Japan, new public toilets or restrooms in offices and department stores etc. are either for women or for men except restrooms for handicapped people.

Never had any discussion about that here in Japan or in other Asian countries.

Modern toilet technology is also eliminating this issue. New modern Japanese toilets are flushing automatically, are opening the toilet cover automatically and will close them again after you leave the restroom.

It also has to be said that restroom hygiene is far behind in many Western countries compared to Japan - no washlet facilities, still using toilet paper, no anti-bacterial fluid mixed with the water during flush etc., very primitive.

I was surprised when I had to use a restroom in an expensive restaurant within one of the Hyatt hotels in Tokyo constructed by 'American Standard' - very primitive, the cheapest toilet paper only and to wash your hands, the cheapest piece of soap - even no paper towel... just nothing.
However the guests from USA obviously never complain about that.

And don't ask me about restrooms within any US-Army base I visited in Japan. Just terrible. Even within their US housing compounds.

Any restroom somewhere in a cheap family restaurant in Japan in the outskirts of any large city offers a far better standard to their guests.

Obviously the seat should be left up as that is where we generally want it and if females are dumb enough to fall in then that is hilarious.
