Winston, why is HA banned in China?

Winston, I can no longer access the website from China without using a VPN. I think the thread in the trip Report section titled: "Xiangicun Shenzhen" may have led the Chinese to ban the site because it deals with a well-know P4P spot in Shenzhen.
You might want to think about deleting the thread so that the site doesn't get banned.

Since when has it been blocked?
Different parts of China block different sites. The golden wall isn't the same everywhere.
Where is that thread? Perhaps we can move it to the NSFW section.
Why doesn't China just block subpages instead of entire sites?

It's unlikely HA was banned. The Chinese authorities generally aren't that interested in blocking English language content. And HA is a pretty small site in the global scheme of things.
More likely Winston won't pay good money for decent hosting lol.
There are plenty of sites that will tell you if a site is accessible from within China. But my experience has been that they don't work well with phpBB forums so they're not very reliable.
Anyway, don't worry as anyone who is serious about accessing HA from other countries will have a VPN service.
