Does it work with phpbb? It's easier to install a mod from the phpbb database. But the thing is, will anyone use it? Or like the shoutbox, will everyone ignore it? Eurobrat was the one who wanted it, but he's gone now. Others voted for it too in the poll here, but don't use it. Funny. But that's what you get with a lot of eccentric types like the ones here. lol

One of my forum members complained about this:

Why does your shoutbox refresh every 5 seconds, it's not a chatroom so that is wasteful use of bandwidth and will cause slowdown on people with slow machines. Make it refresh only once every page load if you can, or every min

Is that true? I do see it spinning a lot at the top of the forum. Is it refreshing constantly even when new chats aren't being posted there? If so, why? Doesn't that slow down the forum? Any of you notice that too on your browser?

Why do you guys never use the shoutbox except for HappyGuy? It's at the top of the forum and the most visible. Why? Is there a problem with it? Do you dislike it for some reason?

A shoutbox is not a chatroom. It's for making announcements and most members have nothing to announce. You need to have a separate members-only chatroom for us to post questions or jokes or links about trending events that are not fit to print on the forum.

Then why dont i just take it down? Originally eurobrat and jester wanted it. You guys always ask for stuff and then never use it. You guys are like babies. Lol

Im sure if roosh had a shoutbox in his forum everyone would be using it. Why are his fans more loyal and normal and mine are not?

@eurobrat and @Jester how do you respond? Winston gave you what you asked for during a global pandemic no less and you are still not satisfied?

You know what would be funny? Someone should post this in the shoutbox just to see what happens:

"ATTENTION EVERYONE! Winston Wu was found dead this morning. The police have ruled it a suicide! A team of American women have been assigned to takeover and administer this forum from now on. Any requests or complaints shall be addressed to them. Please do not post anything out of line or that is not politically correct which is not suitable for the mass public. See if anyone will notice and react. lol. Or if everyone will act like nothing happened. lol. If no one notices anything, then we will know for sure that no one is looking at the shoutbox at all, even though it's in a prominent position at the top. lol. You guys are weird. I'll bet if Roosh put up a shoutbox in his forum, it wouldn't get ignored like ours. Why are his fans more normal than you guys? How sad. lol

Could it be because it doesn't take Roosh 5 or more years to listen to member requests and implement new features?

It's come to my attention that Mercer and his sockpuppets have been spamming the shoutbox after getting banned and creating new accounts. We can moderate posts of new users to filter out the trolls like Mercer, but we cannot prevent them from abusing the Shoutbox. So for now, what we will probably be doing is disabling the shoutbox for a while, until this troll or trolls stop abusing the shoutbox. I can't think of any other solution since the shoutbox doesn't have a feature to prevent abuse by trolls. Do any of you have a better idea?

There's no feature that allows you to prevent new posters to post in the shoutbox? That's odd. But I'm perfectly okay with you simply removing the shoutbox until further notice; banned former member Mercer keeps continuing under new aliases and he says some very heinous stuff, about the wives and girlfriends and even children of other users. Recently former member @davewe passed away and Mercer even insulted the poor dead guy's wife and son. He's an absolute menace.

I'm just happy that we have @Pixel--Dude because he's the only moderator in years that actually seems like he gives a damn about the forum and actively moderates it, sniffing out and removing heinous trolls. You picked the right man for the job, Winston.

Yes true MZ. Pixel dude and I are kindred spirits and are similar in mind and soul. So I trust him and his logic and decisions. Because he is like a younger version of me who would do what I would do.

What is this Mercer troll's motive? How does he select who to attack? It seems random. Why would he attack innocent people whom he doesn't even know? There is no logic to his MO. Like that line in the movie "Dark Knight" goes "Some people just want to see the world burn."

He suddenly died in early June. A friend of him confirmed it on his blog. I have checked the Facebook account of Dave's sister and widow and they all said he passed. It was a heart attack. Pretty sad, because he just had a son again last year with his Filipina wife. Now the kid will never know his father, he's not even a year old.

Whoever is behind the Mercer account is an older member with an axe to grind who knows a lot of the forum regulars and is aware of our forum history, such as the time when I claimed I would soon be a millionaire and the fact that I never met up with you and @Rock despite being asked several times. He seems particularly mad about it... gee, I wonder who Mercer could be?
