Let's ban YouTube here

Posting YouTube should be considered treason, collaborating with the enemy. I suggest we ban YouTube on this forum.

I see no reason why a link to youtube should be banned. Please explain...

Youtube is just a large video collection about this and that... everything from music, travel, news from various news agencies... etc. also personal videos from any kind of people...

I don't agree with the motion. There's a lot of good content to be shared that's hosted on youtube. Youtube is just a repository of content. I think people should be free to share what they find regardless of what plaform.

It's not the content that's the problem OP it's the company and their censorship of political opinion. That's what you're rightly getting at.

Dont forget that with the increasing censorship, youtube will likely block off access to external links first anyway. They already do it if the country you are viewing a video in is not allowed by the video uploader. Like Japan

I answer again because I say that would be Restrictive & would suppress free speech, if for example someone wanted to comment on a video that had good point and it happened to be hosted by Youtube (but wasn't available on another platform).

Yes, I know we don't like the corporation, myself and the OP and many who've replied. Acknowledged.

Banning is not the way forward. Banning is just suppression of free speech.

That may only be an option when all the content of Youtube is available on the other platforms. For now banning sharing would probably do a dis-service.

OP, you are a moderator, right? How about create the rule that any link to a Youtube video when that video exists on some other platform can be freely changed by a moderator to direct to that other platform instead as the mods see fit. Although it will create more work for you as a mod, it will diminish superfluous Youtube linking without banning it altogether.

Twitter permanently suspends Project Veritas
https://reclaimthenet.org/project-verit ... d-twitter/
Project Veritas had over 735,000 followers when it was suspended and its tweets often went viral and reached millions of users on the platform.

The suspension follows Project Veritas’s Twitter account being locked earlier today after it posted a video clip featuring a Project Veritas journalist confronting Facebook’s Vice President (VP) of Integrity Guy Rosen over comments that he made about Facebook’s hate speech detection technology in a leaked video.

In the leaked video, Rosen discussed a Facebook system that can “freeze commenting on threads in cases where our systems are detecting that there may be a thread that has hate speech or violence, sort of in the comments.”

In the clip that resulted in Project Veritas’s account being locked, Project Veritas Senior Journalist, Christian Hartsock, confronted Rosen outside his home and asked him: “When you talk about freezing comments containing hate speech, what do you mean by that? How do you define hate speech? Is it just speech that you hate?”

Twitter took down the clip for violating its rules against “posting private information” and locked the Project Veritas account for 12 hours. The account was then suspended permanently while it was locked.

Before publishing the leaked Facebook video, Project Veritas had also published several leaked videos from internal Twitter meetings including one video where CEO Jack Dorsey discussed “much bigger” Twitter censorship measures after Trump’s ban from the platform.

The suspension of Project Veritas is the latest of several recent high profile account bans. Over the last three weeks, Jim Hoft, founder and editor of independent news outlet The Gateway Pundit, MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell, and the MyPillow corporate account have all been banned.

https://reclaimthenet.org/gina-carano-f ... ial-posts/
https://www.thewrap.com/gina-carano-dro ... dia-posts/
Gina Carano has been dropped from “The Mandalorian” after the actress posted comments Lucasfilm said it considers “abhorrent” on her social media.

Image
Carano has spent much of 2020 sharing some particularly obnoxious political opinions on social media — including what looked a lot like support for baseless conspiracy theories and lies about nonexistent voter fraud in states that went for Joe Biden on Nov. 5, just two days after the election.

And only 9 days after that she invited people to join her on Parler, the social media platform preferred by right wing extremists. And shortly after that shared another baseless conspiracy theory against Democrats and mask-wearing. With that, many fans pretty much turned on her for reasons we probably don’t need to explain.

Perhaps as a result, Carano didn’t really say much else about politics for the rest of November and the uproar died down a little bit. But then in December, again while people still assumed that an announcement of a Cara Dune show was inevitable, she waded back into it with a tweet that used the topic of a COVID-19 vaccine to suggest mail-in voting cannot be trusted. Which predictably sparked an all-new backlash.

Parler is gratified that the court refused to uncritically accept Amazon’s argument – widely repeated in the media – that the Parler platform was somehow used to plan, coordinate or execute the despicable January 6 riot at the Capitol.

Based on the evidence of which we are aware, the Parler platform was not used in that manner – even though competing platforms clearly were used for that purpose. We are grateful the court refused to join the dishonest attempt to make Parler the scapegoat for the riot.

Have you noticed something wrong with YouTube lately? The videos on there keep crashing every few minutes. It's not my browser because other sites still work well. I also cleared my browser cache and cookies too and restarted my computer, so it can't be my computer's problem. Must be YouTube's problem. What is going on?

It could be a temporary issue however Youtube has been known for years to slow down streaming for Firefox users and even disabled it entirely to pressure people to switch to Chrome. The war was specifically on Mozilla's user base because Opera, Safari and other non-Google browsers still worked albeit at slower speeds than Chrome fueling the misconception that Chrome had them all beat in technology. Keep track of when the errors occur so you'll recognize them in the future. Whatever browser you're on it could be ad blockers and your other add-ons or extensions crashing Youtube but if you're on Brave it's possibly they are causing streaming problems to pressure you to leave the browsers that offer more privacy. But Brave like Microsoft Edge is based on Chromium and faces less hurdles than Firefox because it doesn't directly challenge Google's monopoly.

Does Brave Browser Really Beat Fingerprinting?
https://lbry.tv/@RobBraxmanTech:6/brave:8
Brave Browser was revised in 2020 and received a slew of features related to better defense against browser fingerprinting. Or at least that's the claim. In this video we put this to a test, by actually attempting to fingerprint a Brave Browser session in different circumstances while we also theorize some possible ways to evade the defense.

In the end we will figure out exactly what Brave does differently from other browsers and we will see if it lives up to the hype. Is it unbeatable by a browser fingerprint tracker? Or is it flawed? Find out the results of the actual test.

We also compare it to Chrome and Firefox using default settings on those browsers.

The Great Firewall of...America? WTZ!
https://lbry.tv/@RobBraxmanTech:6/firewall:d
https://odysee.com/@RobBraxmanTech:6/firewall:d
This past week on Feb 2 - Feb 7, 2021 a massive attack was conducted on encrypted services, particular VPN's. VPN traffic was throttled to near unusability. Basically in 2021, the Great Firewall of the USA was turned on. And then abrubtly turned off.

Purpose of the action was unknown. No party stepped up to acknowledge and aside from me, no one has stepped up to call any Internet Provider of their egregious action against privacy minded people. Why did this attack happen? Is this because of a government mandate? Why the concerted efforts with cable companies to throttle on the other side? Was it because they had network congestion and were just trying to deal with that? But why the selective choice of throttling the people interested in privacy? Since VPN's can cloak themselves, why even bother to do this since at best the effect is temporary?

I was on chrome when it happened. So its unlikely to be deliberate. Must be a bug. But thats unusual because YouTube doesnt usually have bugs that keep crashing your browser like that.
