Most forums have time limits on editing posts right? There must be a reason for it right? What is that reason?

Most forums that I use don't have this.

I remember one time a post of mine had to be deleted for legal reasons. Hopefully the mods could do it in such a case.

No, I don't want a time limit. I think it's unnecessary. I also don't encounter it very often. Even many mainstream websites allow deletion while there's forums that allow editing.

I didn't actually vote yet, but sometimes it's nice to be able to add info or edit a post when a thread you (i.e. a forum member, non-moderator) made seems worthwhile enough that you want to add something or revise something in the first post (or whichever post is relevant).
I've done that a number of times just to improve a thread I made.

So do you two, as the moderators, think that it'd be better to be able to edit a post whenever we want, or better to have to submit a request
to you to edit our own post?

Or is there some reason it's better to just prohibit people from editing older posts? I know some of the mildly amusing jewish trolls have done that to annoy people, or the occasional exception like the "Ghost" fellow or that guy Joe whining about how he wanted a "tradwife", then told me there was supposedly "no such thing as misogyny," and then seemed so mortally offended by my joking around with him that he deleted every post he'd made on the forum and left... but is that really a big deal, LOL? You tell me.

[ Edit: I actually went ahead and voted "No," just for the heck of it, but if there's reasons I wasn't aware of why we supposedly shouldn't be allowed to edit older posts, by all means let us know. Bit of an understatement to say I loathe John Maynard Keynes, but he pretty much said it with his quip: "When I decide I'm wrong, I change my mind." :D ]

I voted no. The reason being that I plan on making a compendium of all my philosophical threads all linked within one thread at a later time. If I make the compendium and want to add another thread later it just won't look as good in another comment underneath. But that's just my opinion. If the issue is @Mercer blanking out his comments then maybe we could just make a rule against that.

For me personally though, none of it is a big deal. Whether Mercer blocks out his comments, whether @Winston implements a 3 day window for editing or not. It isn't that big a deal. But for the sake of convenience I also voted no.
