Once you take a bite, even the strongest minds and wills here on this forum cannot stop eating them. It's like a drug that makes you instantly addicted. What is in them that causes this?

Since glutamates are important neurotransmitters in the human brain, playing a key element in learning and memory, there is ongoing study by neurologists about possible side-effects of MSG in food but no conclusive studies drawing any connections.
Or Doritos are just tasty.

I like the "Flaming Hot Crunchy Cheetos" as substitute for spicy chicharrones . At work we provide unlimited snacks and drinks and I can order whatever from Costco, but the Doritos and Cheetos aren't very popular. Most of our developers are college grads from local universities, and when they see me eat Cheetos they comment "that's so high school". >_>

To illustrate, I just went to the pantry and pulled out 3 cases of Doritos and Cheetos, but thee's only one box of Nutri Grain bars left. Actually the Nutri Grain bars is not the most popular, the nature valley granola bars usually go first. We order the "Oats and Honey" granola bars by the case and it's usually gone in a week. Baked chips is also popular.

Also popular, oatmeal, popcorn, and nuts:

There is a small % of the population that are compulsive eaters. Brain scans of obese people and compulsive eaters have found disturbances in their "brain reward circuits" similar to those experienced by drug and alcohol abusers. A good test is to see if the person has food compulsion issue with just "junk food", or other types of food as well.

Salt? Salt is not addictive at all. What do you mean?

Isn't it the MSG or something?

The ultimate test of willpower is to put someone in front of an open bag of doritos and have him/her eat a few chips and see if they can resist eating anymore in the next hour while sitting in front of them. lol

Winston:

I used to eat Doritos, and now I don't. I just stopped eating them one day, and soon forgot about them.

Once again, you're lazy.

Snack chips make you fat. All you have to do is replace them with fruits, or nuts. Or just eat 4-5 smaller meals during the day, spacing them out every 3-4 hours. The trick is to make yourself full, so you don't crave junk food.
