Back in 1998, a Japanese company named Dairei (大冷株式会社) started selling "boneless fish" (骨なし魚). What they did was to de-scale, gut, and de-bone the fish, then glue the fish back together with fish glue and have it look like a whole fish. This was done because Asian consumers prefer whole-fish over western style fillets, and would pay a higher price in retail. The company claimed that they're marketing the fish to elderly and young children who couldn't pick bones with their chopsticks.

The product stirred up a controversy with parental groups who believed that children should be taught how to eat fish with bones. So uh, the Japanese companies then started marketing a product called "fish with delicious bones" (骨までおいしい魚) where the fish bones (including the fish head) in the fish are tenderized and made edible. LoL.

Although they briefly hinted at here, there's another scam being perpetrated on the public: pumping your meat with water to increase the weight. Last time I checked, you pay for your meat based on its raw/uncooked weight, not it's post-cooking weight. In that video, that chunk of meat lost 0.5 kg after draining the water. That's a lot of extra weight you're paying for, but not getting in meat product. I'm certain that the food industry is full of scams like this, that the average person just doesn't know about.
