I lost a little over 30 lbs this year

This year, I've lost just over 30 pounds and still working on losing weight. My weight at the end of 2014 was around 200 pounds and now I weigh 167. And I have a feeling my trip to Ciudad Juarez last month was a big factor to my overall weight loss this year. The food in Juarez was healthier and tasted much better than American food; it didn't have preservatives or artificial ingredients. Also, I got A LOT of exercise on that trip; I walked everywhere I went in Juarez except to bars where I went in my friend's car, and I even crossed the border back and forth on foot. I have to give a big shout-out to Winston for inspiring me to get started with the Happier Abroad movement; not only I met sweet feminine women in Mexico, but I got an opportunity to lose weight just by getting out of America.

I have to agree with you about the food and its relationship to weight in the USA vs. foreign countries. I weigh 20 lbs more in the USA than when I was living in Philippines. The food in the USA is just crap compared to the natural foods you eat overseas!

Very good! But the technique of leaving the US in order to lose weight certainly doesn't always work for everyone :)

Are some of us too poor or broke to go abroad at all?

Ya, the same question is in my mind also. Is it important? Nope. Its will happen where you are now. Stay and go ahead for the proper diet and health routine to be healthy and fit.

It depends what you are doing all day, if you sitting on a desk in USA from morning to evening to earn money, and then when going abroad you enjoy vacation and swimming and jogging every day, this makes a difference.

It's not only about food, it's about moving your body.... as said with the opening post.

Another important factor is stress, if you work under time pressure while in USA or if you spend your vacation without an alarm-clock and mobile phone next to you this makes a big difference. Climate is also a factor, in hot climate you drink more and eat less...
