That's what I mean by grafting. Any process that aims at making a soulless machine capable of consciousness and free will will fail miserably. Stories like M Shelley's Frankenstein or the Golem are metaphors for that hubris-induced failure.
And, all in all, it's not machines being more human we should be worried about. The problem is us humans behaving more and more like robots.
