I watched the video. @Taco When you post videos, why don't you add your thoughts/opinions with them also?Taco wrote: ↑June 5th, 2024, 8:05 amPresented with no comment...

I'm interested to hear what @publicduende or anyone who is in tech has to say about this video. I still hold the view that any person's primary objective should be to game the system to their advantage. Find loopholes and exploit them if necessary.Taco wrote: ↑June 5th, 2024, 8:05 amPresented with no comment...

Inflation is evil, but investing in shitcoins and seeing $10K triple in value in the space of a few weeks or months "just because", is also a form of inflation. The problem with inflation is that it is irrelevant or even beneficial only to the top 1%, maybe the top 5%. If you think the price of organic grocery or a nice brick-oven-baked pizza is overinflated, you should notice how inflated are the prices of luxury goods and experiences.kangarunner wrote: ↑June 7th, 2024, 5:41 amI'm interested to hear what @publicduende or anyone who is in tech has to say about this video. Basically don't aim to be an employee. Just like TechLead said, you should try to be your own entrepreneur. And own your own income.
Everything you described above just shows that America is an entire con operation. It's a scam. Like you said, shitcoins. Get rich quick. The whole game of America is overhyped marketing backed by tech workers building shit for the investors.publicduende wrote: ↑June 8th, 2024, 10:27 amInflation is evil, but investing in shitcoins and seeing $10K triple in value in the space of a few weeks or months "just because", is also a form of inflation. Even here in the frigging Philippines, a 5-star beach resort charges $2,000 USD for a night in a "villa", which is a very standard house panelled in cheap bamboo in the middle of an equally modest artificial garden. $2,000 USD is what a young resident surgeon makes in Manila after 15 years of hard study and work.
You might say that you don't care about the top 1% or 5%. True, but consider that most luxury good and service companies make 80% of their profits from the top 5% or 10% of their service offering. Business class tickets, overpriced "luxury" experiences, obscene designer goods, etc.
If you're in the enviable position to have made a small fortune posting useless, sensationalist videos, on top of the couple million USD in selling your Google and Facebook options at the most opportune time, you definitely don't have to worry about how pointless it is to work. It's the average people like us, who are really hurt by inflation, who have to keep working and keep hurting.
By the way, this Tech Lead guy is one of the few people I have a visceral hate for. All these videos, however wanting (or trying) to be tongue in cheek, drool with pretentiousness and hypocrisy. What's worse, I look at his decidedly Japanese face and I expect his mouth to utter relatively bland, no-BS arguments. But nope, it's total clickbait BS across the board.
