Yeah, it was a different breed of American female then. I'm old enough to remember a convention where the woman was supposed to "draw the man out in conversation," actually expressing interest in his views and deeds. Now they just sit back waiting to be entertained.

I think back in the day women goals was to get married and be wife and mother. So women would try to be open or to attract a man.

Wow you sure know a lot about old obscure TV shows. Dont you love how shows like petticoat junction brighten up your morning with the their sweet wholesome good natured characters? And arent the girls in that show so wholesome, lady like and sweet? Lol.

Another series that ran alongside it was The Beverly Hillbillies. Lol

Gilligan's Island ran from 1964 to 1967. I suspect that most guys only watched it because of Mary Ann and Ginger.

Did you guys know that in the 1960's, TV shows were AGAINST gender equality? Here is an example:

In 1965, there was a TV show called "Gidget" with Sally Field. (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0058806/) In episode 6 (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0588004/?ref_=ttep_ep6), Sally Field's character Gidget, a school girl, tried to prove herself equal with boys by signing up for auto shop class at school, a trade which was and still is strictly for males. When she messes up badly and funnily in the class while trying to change oil on a car, she embarrasses herself and quits. At the end of the episode, she admitted to her parents and brother that they were right and agreed that she should stick with being a girl and not try to be equal with boys.

So that TV show discouraged feminism and gender equality, and taught that girls should be girls and boys should be boys, as a moral lesson. In the 1960's, America still knew the difference between men and women, and was wiser and more real than the America of today, which is pretty much all about bullshit and political correctness, not truth. Back then, America still had decent family values, but that all started sliding downhill in the 1970's.

If you think the 90's were more progressive and today's liberalism is better, just take a look at the stats of the 1960's compared to today. Back then divorce rates were much lower. The nuclear family was more stable. Families were closer and had more values. Neighbors talked to each other. Friends were easier to make. People were more down to earth, authentic and real. They looked more wholesome, innocent and good natured too, which you can see on any 1960's TV show. In contrast, today there is moral decay in America, a breakdown of family values, a high divorce rate, and people on TV now look soulless, cold and unfeeling, not wholesome or innocent.

So if I had to pick whether people had better values back then or now, I'd definitely choose back then.

Your impressions of a vastly different society in the '60s are not mistaken. At the most fundamental level, back then when you set out into your day you always felt the possibility of meeting actual human beings, rather than brain-dead narcissists. That left open all sorts of possible opportunities. Possibilities that are gone now.

The sort of ideals that popular culture held out to Americans can be seen in this clip from a mid-'60s Broadway musical. A song I really like begins at about 1:50. When I talk to men who grew up in the 60's, they tell me you could actually meet a woman at a grocery store or book store and the women were OPEN to meeting men.

It is amazing how uniform the world has become. SA had no TV until 1975. Porn was illegal until 1994 and the closest ting to it was photos of women in swimming costumes. Sport was compulsory at school. The only similarity now is that uniforms are still compulsory and rules on hair cuts. For girls no coloured hair or makeup.

TV shows just did not feature, with all the jewish content. There was heavy censorship based on morality, like no race mixing shows, no sex or nudity, American imported movies had many sections cut out.

There is a negative side to censorship, but in hindsight, it may not have been such a bad thing. Kids grew up wholesome and sports, volk, family and country focussed. It is the opposite type of brainwashing than modern jewish brainwashing.

It is true in that type of society there was no problem talking to women in public. Now they will think you just want sex or are a nut.
