Gone Girl is too unrealistic.
The value of the movie was not in its attempt to be realistic, it was in the illustration that females are presumed innocent unless and until it becomes irrefutably apparent that they are not. That is the value in the film.

We see this same female "Halo Effect" with Elizabeth Holmes, Hillary Clinton, Lisa Page, Paula Broadwell and other high profile females who have not been held accountable for crimes for which men would have been long ago been imprisoned.

If any of you love mystery thrillers that keep you guessing and contain great twists, this is for you. It's called "The Vanished" and came out this year. It's about a couple in an RV at a campground and lake who loses their daughter when she goes missing. As they try to find her, it gets weirder and weirder and the couple go more and more psycho. It's very suspenseful and riveting, with many misdirections. When you get to the end where the whole thing is finally solved, there's a HUGE twist that's very original. I never saw it coming. Wow. Not like other movies at all. Awesome. If you like films that are unpredictable and surprise you, you will love this one. It's a masterpiece in misleading you in different directions. lol

Btw @Contrarian Expatriate even if you don't have time to see the enemy movie, you can still watch the enemy explained videos above. They go deep into the psyche of men who fear the trap of marriage and responsibility, which is equivalent to the control of totalitarian government dictatorship from a philosophical standpoint. The comparison is very interesting and revealed in the college lectures of the history teacher protagonist with the split personality.

I’m not sure men fear marriage and responsibility as much as they recognize that it is a raw deal for them in this day and age. If anything, men who want to marry today do so out of an irrational fear of missing out.

Yeah but we aren't talking about men in general. We are talking about the protagonist character in Enemy. For him, marriage is a trap and a totalitarian dictatorship with no freedom of expression. See the reviews and analysis videos of it above.

Interesting new movie called "A Serious Man" that is a modern Book of Job story about a Jewish man with constant bad luck and suffering even though he's a good person, and seeks to understand why God is punishing him or letting him suffer unjustly. See the Renegade Cut synopsis of the film below.

Oh? It seems you've already forgotten your statement above about men in general. I highlighted it above for ease of reference.

I loved that movie, like most from the Cohen Brothers.

I wondered about the point of the movie. God is never punishing us, only challenging and testing. Not wanting to give away spoilers, but the key element (whichI I liked) is consistency. As soon as the Jewish man breaks his vow of being consistent with himself, no matter the reason, he has failed the test and that's when God's wrath falls on him.

Men who fear commitment and responsibility in any aspect of life, not just relationships, aren't real men.

Unless of course the commitment is likely be rewarded with jail, bankruptcy and suicide.

True that. Part of being a "real man" is to minimise the chance that that will happen by finding a decent woman.

A person with this appearance should NEVER try to determine what constitutes a real man and what does not!

From the bouffant hairpiece on top, to the receded hairline, to the feminine overbite smile,to the beard out of the 1980s, to the one lazy eye, to the low-testosterone appearance, to the uncommonly asymmetrical face.

Still mocking me as "Publicduende", are we? Such a rich move from the "real man" you are, to mock a member who isn't even here to defend himself.

@Contrarian Expatriate: redefining masculinity, every day. :D

I guess the "real man" wouldn't have the guts to show his real face in here. I guessed right...
